I have read on other sites that this product weighs 30 lbs. Does this truly weigh 98 lbs? Also what is this model made out of? Is it inflatable?

Hi, I bought two of these for the kids for xmas '12. 98 lbs. is wrong. Even 30 sounds heavy to me. They are plastic which is nice because they will not pop. The paddle is very light. My kids are 7 and 8 years old and I suspect they will use them for many years to come

What is the next size lifetime kayak up for a bigger kid?

There are many cheap sit on 8' kayaks. A more expensive choice is old town heron 7 1)2' junior or 9' heron . They are sit in, good for more serious paddles than a play one
