Colorfin 30076 Pan Ultra 9ml Soft Artist Pastel Set (7 Per Package)

This is a fine product and is easy to store alongside my printer.

I got one special set for my birthday. I realized that I hadn't basic colors nor a blender. I ordered the fall set to paint a particular copyright free tree image, not yet done. I still need more colors, however. You can mix colors using lids and included tools but don't get much product. That means, my painting needed contrast. So, I used my Prismacolors. Then, muted with the pan pastels. I'll have to figure out how to get details. All future learning requires research and practice, none if which has occurred so far. I like the way these lay down the beautiful base. I should mention I used high quality paper. There's no point in spending all this money to try to get the product to adhere to inferior paper. It'll blend right back onto the tool. Once I'm happy with my painting, I'll spray with fixative and cover with wax paper to preserve the powder. I recommend these for home use. The tray I bought plus other trays would be cumbersome for plein air. But, do make a sketch outside if in a scenic locale for completion at home. Consider a set of tools, a tray, a blender, and topnotch pastel paper if putting together an artist's gift. I recommend a basic starter set with an actual yellow not just lemon yellow.

Panpastels are so much fun to learn to use. These are easy to apply to your art and to remove if you change your mind or apply too much. I have been successful in getting one of my fellow artists to try Panpastels and to put them on her Christmas wish list. More of them are on mine too.

The pan pastels are the most amazing medium to use. You only need a little and your artwork is transformed. I love this product. Would receommend.

Although I haven't used it too much, I loved how it "melts" into the painting. I would buy all of them if I could!
