A Thousand Tomorrows (Cody Gunner Series #1)

Read this if you have a loved one who is Down's Syndrome or has a hidden physical medical condition.
Very good storyline. ๐๐๐พI think this series is more fitting for a younger generation audience โ I'm 66 yrs of age. Although I enjoyed all of the insights regarding challenges that families with Down's Syndrome babies/ children / adults have had to endure since forever...but how the stigmas can be overcome by acceptance for the often misunderstood thinking that D. S. babies should never be brought into this world.Nothing could be further from the truth!!! They have so much to teach us about innocence in human nature, boundless love and acceptance to give to those who take the time to help them be the best person they can be, and that they too know the meaning of true love. This story also gives great insights into the many struggles people everywhere, throughout society, deal with when they have what looks normal on the surface, but is hidden inside the body when they suffer with illnesses like, Cystic Fibrosis, M.S., and the list goes on. All the more reason to be more kind, loving, and helpful to people all around us on any given day, bc we know not what they may be dealing with unless we walk a mile in their shoes. The heart of this book series has all of the above woven throughout, giving anyone who reads it the messages of faith, hope, and love...the greatest being LOVE. โกโกโก

A Thousand Tomorrows
Cody Gunner and Ali Daniels both ride in the Pro Rodeo Tour hiding a secret. Cody, a bull rider, is trying to rid himself of the anger he feels toward his father for leaving their family because his brother, Carl Joseph, has Down syndrome. Ali, a barrel racer with cystic fibrosis, wants to live life to the fullest since the death of her sister, also from cystic fibrosis, even though it means shortening hers. One evening, after her run, Cody finds Ali gasping for breath and helps her regulate her breathing. Ali starts watching Cody ride and sees his hidden reason for success. They start meeting to talk after the rodeo ends each night and she reveals her illness to him. Friendship soon turns to love which brings about sacrifice and forgiveness.Karen Kingsbury has a unique writing style. The words flow easily, with no mistakes in editing. This was truly a wonderful story, albeit a tearful one. I had to force myself to hold back my own until I finished so they would not fall and ruin my book.I purchased a paperback copy of this book.

Amazing
The most amazing stories that follow on about love, loss, disabilities and how families cope with cystic fibrosis and Down syndrome. It shows how courage and encouragement can make such a difference with God at you side. Parts in the book made me cry, some parts made me laugh and all parts made me thankful that Karen Kingsbury is an author who writes about real issues with such compassion.

A Thousand Tomorrows
Most children love horses and playing at being a cowboy when they are young. Children with cystic fibrosis usually can't play those games or ride a horse because of their health. Children of divorce often blame themselves and feel their behavior or failure caused the problem. When a girl with physical health problems and a boy with emotional issues meet and seem drawn to each other with a desire to help that soon turns love their relationship seems doomed. This is a wonderful story of two of them and how they found a way to deal with their own problems but also to help each other.

Love this book
As a barrel racer, this is one of my favorite books by Karen Kingsbury. It captures well the love of the event, and the spirit of most of the riders I know. Western riders tend to be against the odds riders. There are sone unrealistic things to the story like holding your breath, but overall, it's a very sweet read, and a favorite story.

It is always a delight to read a book written by Karen Kingsbury
It is always a delight to read a book written by Karen Kingsbury. Her ability to capture you into the lives of the characters is exhilarating. The best part about her books is the positive Christian message. I do not like reading a book with vulgar language, violence and graphic sexual content. Who says a book cannot be interesting without all those vile things? Thank you, Karen Kingsbury, for always bringing us exciting, positive and realistic fictional stories to encourage, enlighten and entertain.

Cody, Carl Joseph, Ali
Meeting Cody as a boy and reading about his life is exciting. Learning how hate and anger can drive a person is interesting. As with all her books, Karen Kingsbury brings you a story so real, you feel like you are there in that person's life. you even feel hurt and sad when they do. I cried and I laughed and had a mixed bag of emotions over this book. Anyone will also love this book for the things it teaches about the challenges it teaches about sickness and special needs people. I really enjoyed all 3 of the books about Cody and his family.

Disappointing for a Karen Kingsbury fan
'A Thousand Tomorrows': The key attraction of Karen Kingsbury's books for me has always been the Christian faith of the central characters, and how this is affected by the trials and suffering that the world throws at them in the course of the story. Because of this, I can overlook the slightly cheesy 'all-American apple pie' feel that they have, and the stereotypical appearance of the main characters in most books (slim, beautiful women; rugged, handsome men). This book, however, is lacking the vital core of faith. Yes, it's a reasonably interesting romantic tear-jerker, and nice that it focuses on disability, but without that core, it's just one of many such reads. The word Christian only occurs about twice, the word God once, and Jesus and Christ not at all. Disappointing.'Just Beyond the Clouds' fares slightly better. Elle is a Christian and encourages her students to pray. Cody gets there eventually. But still not up to the standard of many of Karen's other books.

Two book omnibus
First book was about kidney donors and living life to the full. Second covered life skills for Down Syndrome young people, so was controversial, thought provoking and informative.
