READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY
FIRST: I am a white water rafter and was so excited for this box. After going through two rapids I checked the box and there was a good amount of water inside. I had 6 gopro batteries and my phone inside. The box was never submerged, only splashed.NEXT: I took the box onto the beach to attempt to dry everything off. As soon as the box came into contact with the sand, the locking/opening mechanism froze up. If this box can’t handle water or sand what is the point?I am very disappointed.

This thing is great
I closed it and jumped in the pool with it in my hands. Played around in the water and flipped it over many times. Not a drop of water inside. Works perfect for my needs.

A Sturdy, Attractive, & Generally Waterproof Box
Summary:This is a very sturdy box that I think will survive most challenges, but double check the temperamental lining.Details:I always love the aesthetics, durability, and security of dry boxes from companies like Pelican, but they are too expensive for most non-critical uses. These Evergreen dry boxes offer a lot of that same security at a far better price point.Performance-wise this dry box seems as sturdy as anything from Pelican. It has a secure 2-part latch which really guarantees that the box has been closed. I also really like the (silicone?) mesh webbing on the inside of the lid which allows you to hang items in the box... that really expands the utility here. I also love the depth of this dry box which is enough to comfortably carry cellphones, passports, etc. for a few people. Nice! The waterproofing gets kind of a mixed verdict from me. To test it I first put a paper towel inside the box and then ran water over it in the sink. I then turned it over a few times in the flow of the water to see if the seal could resist mild pressure. It failed completely on this test! But when I opened it, I realized that the inner lining had crept out of the little channel that is supposed to hold it in place and maintain the seal. After correcting that, the dry box remained, well, dry. However there is still an issue here. The entire point of a dry box is to effortlessly keep your things dry and safe. I've never had to fuss with a seal like that on other dry boxes and it undermines my faith in its suitability in the field... What if I hadn't noticed that the lining was out of place? Also, as others have noted, the locking (as in locking with a key) mechanism is very weak. That isn't a big deal except there is no clear way to attach an external lock to it...I debated if this was a 4 or 3 star product, but I decided to go with 4 because its quite attractive, quite sturdy, and very reasonably priced. Just make sure you have the lining well seated prior to use and I might put anything important in a zip lock bag (or, even better, a small dry bag) for an extra layer of security.
