Truly an amazing album by an amszing artist!
There are some songs that immediately bring me back to my early 20s. The music of Marvin Gaye does that for me. I long ago wore out my lp of these songs. Very happy to have them back!

Marvin Gaye's amazing cotribution to the history of music!
I can't stop playing the CD since I got it!!Any true disciple of music be it player writer or discerning listener will not be disappointed as this album is so beautifully put together in every department. Of course one of it's outstanding points is the presence of James Jamerson who sets the bass section on fire across side 1!! He has to be heard to be appreciated. Most of The Funk Brothers are on this album, they really shine and they actually get the credits for their contributions for the first time on a Motown album!!Jamerson lying flat on his back drunk playing his bass parts!! ( as legend has it from a member of The Funk Brothers who was at the recording sessions) Jamerson is out of this world..Bob Babbit has some great bass as well.Marvin Gaye gels the whole thing together with his amazing vocals and instrumental contributions.A real legendary recording for the musical community to get into and thoroughly enjoy.

Marvin Gaye. Any questions?
"What's Going On" is one of the great albums in the history of contemporary music. And because of the recent police and political savagery of minority people, and the video and media exposure of it, this album warrants a listen. It is as timely now as it was in 1971. If you want a musical insider's view of oppressed life, this album is one way to get it. If you are a musician and would like a course on how to make a song, ditto.
