This is high quality watercolor paper
There is much to like about this paper. When compared to Arches hot-pressed paper of the same weight - 300 g/m 140 lbs - this paper seems thicker and holds its flat shape better . The only negative is that the block separated from the backing early on- just from normal handling. This will only be a problem for the last few sheets of paper ( I think). I’m still giving it a rating of 5 because I love the paper.

Artistic Fabriano (hot press) was recommended in Billy Showell’s watercolor books!
Wonderful paper for botanical art portraits. I was using a cold pressed French paper until I read about Artistico Fabiano paper in Billy Showell’s botanical art books.

In LOVE!!!
I absolutely love this new “enhanced” paper. It seems like I can lift color easier but I find doing drybrush work and details so much easier than ever before. I really feel that this paper is going to enhance my art. I can tell a difference on the very first painting. I’m going to buy many more blocks because I’m afraid something will happen and they will stop making this exact batch. Stocking up now…!

Paint Moved around Too Much
Nice and white - I'll give it that. I just didn't like the finish and the way the paint moved on it. I've only been painting about a year - so maybe it's just my inexperience, but I seem to get better results with Arches.

Prone to streaking, not great for illustration
This is such an odd paper. I have used Arches and Winsor Newton, as well as Hahnemuhle papers and never had such a frustrating experience with streaking. It’s hard to lay down a flat color if you need to add more watercolor because it pulls at the previous strokes. It’s almost like the surface allows the water to stay on top but at the same time, the color gets absorbed? It’s really hard to describe for me. And if you’re going for multiple washes to increase color saturation, you’ll pull color from underneath.I think it’s a good paper if you’re creating organic shapes, like the previous comment with the beautiful flower, because the colors don’t need to be flat. But for illustrations, there are better paper out there. I do love the bright white of the paper, and I’m a little sad I had bought 6 of these pads in various sizes and texture. I will definitely be trying to use them all because we are not wasting money in this economy 🥴
