Five Stars
Smells like proper sushi rice.

Came broken.
Came cracked and had to return it. I don't think it happened in shipping so the wood must have dried unevenly and split. I gave it 3 stars because otherwise it looked like the ad and seemed to be a quality build, excepting the split piece of course.

Not worth it!
Really light wood, cheap metal straps and cost me $45 to return it. Keep shopping.

Junk! Save your money!
Lucky to get 1 star. If you buy then you probably are wanting to get more serious about making your own sushi. Do yourself a favor....buy a genuine Hangiri made in Japan. This has "Made in China" written all over it. Take the 25.00 and put it towards a decent bowl. Think of it as buying a 125.00 bowl and getting 25.00 off because you were smart enough not to buy this first. This is made of cheap, porous, and splintered pine. The copper bands aren't even copper much less provide anything functional. If you do buy this, take them off now or you'll lose the nails that hold them on.....hopefully not in your rice. The one I purchased isn't even waterproof. The seems on the bottom don't even meet up with the sides.Huge disappointment. Wish I had followed the reviews advice. Not worth returning. Pure unadulterated garbage!

Great buy!
I got this bowl for mixing sushi rice with a sweet vinegar sauce, and it works very well. It is very awkward to store, and I usually leave it out on the counter because of this. I haven't found a cabinet that it fits in so far. It's also easy to clean and lightweight. Can hold about 12 cups of cooked rice (6 cups uncooked) comfortably for stirring, and possibly more if you aren't trying to mix anything in.
