Changing with the Tides

The first time I heard one of Shelby’s poems, I stopped in my tracks. I don’t understand how her words say something I can’t express but she does it over and over. I’m deeply moved and changed by her work .

This book hits home. Right in the feels. It is refreshing to read the beautiful, relatable words that came straight from someone's soul. It reminds me I am not alone, and that it does get better. It reminded me of my strength. I love it!

I learned of this poet on tictok and bought her books. I’m very happy I did.

I truly love the honesty with the self that is portrayed from the first page to the end. It’s so real, and beautiful. The author does an amazing job in capturing every word for each poem to make it more universal while still being so personal. It touched the deepest parts of my being that I have kept locked away, kept hidden, and have healed from. It reminded me of the pain of heartbreak, of what it takes to love oneself, what it’s like to heal, to dig your own self out of the pits.I love this. So so good.

changing with the tides is a powerful collection of poetry that uses the expression of realization as its main theme. the book is unique in its structure with its alteration of letters and poems. there is also a progression of discouragement to empowerment within the voicing. i found many of Shelby's words to be very relatable and they pulled on my heart strings. there are many styles of poetry and prose used throughout. a very lovely collection. i honestly can easily picture many of the poems being used as wall art, phone wallpaper, quotes, and tattoos. they are just that stunning. <3beautiful work, Shelby -- looking forward to reading more from you!

I have been following Shelby on Instagram for a while now and love her writing. That said, I wasn't expecting the amount of beauty I found in this book. Not only are the poems raw and beautiful but the book is so beautifully put together, it almost tells a story. That is what I look for in poetry.

Shelby Leigh's 'changing with the tides' is a fantastic read from a talented author. Since her first book 'It starts like this' she had been hinting towards a new release, and it will not disappoint. Where her first book was a collection of individual poems dealing with their own stories, 'changing with the tides' is a more linear story of a person's faults, flaws and all around negativity in life and how that person overcomes these issues to better themself as an individual. It is an easy to read, well written poetic story telling that many people will be able to relate with.

Thought this would have some cute bits but it is so depressing and predictable. It might be good for a teen after their first break up but it was so boring

Love the layout of this book and even the way it feels to hold. Beautiful and touching poems. Can really feel the author's emotions. Thought it was interesting how she split it into 2 parts, in a way it tells a story. Would recommend
