Q: why does mink oil spray smell like alcohol

Hello Cheryl, I am not sure why it smells so strong like alcohol. I can only guess it is the way it is processed and manufactured. I bought another brand that smelled awful. I have since found that Emu Oil is actually better and smells a lot nicer. Hope that helps.

It may affect the ability of the snow to accumulate on the coat, but that is highly dependent on the breed of dog and the type/texture of the coat. Mink oil primarily makes the coat glossy, shiny, and easy to manage making it easier to comb/brush and control. I personally have had no experience with the use of mink oil to reduce snow pickup or help in snow removal so I do not exactly know, but I would imagine that after a couple of treatments, it would probably help.

Q: Have you noticed if this makes the dogs hair grow longer faster?

I have not noticed that, but it helps make the coat shine beautifully! I think it may have some vitamins in it, I'm not sure. My dog is on an oral fish oil supplement & vitamin E capsules to help his skin & coat. This product makes his coat look wonderful, but I think of it more like a multi-benefit leave-in product. After a bath/grooming, this acts as a shine booster, conditioner, detangeler, etc.
