I purchased this sample pack for myself in hopes to find a coffee from the motherland; the flavors were amazing! I couldn’t pick a favorite as they were all very good. I gave four stars because the price was a little high for the amounts you get. Other than that, I highly recommend.

This is an excellent selection of well-known, classic Puerto Rican ground coffees. It's a great introduction to famous Puerto Rican coffees for a coffee lover, or a good gift for a coffee enthusiast who already likes Puerto Rican coffees.There's one each of 4 different kinds, all in small 8oz bags:(1) Cafe Yaucono (yellow bag with a black stripe) -- this is one of Puerto Rico's most iconic and popular brands. It's a medium roast, a blend with a balanced flavor. It has low acidity and is not bitter, and it's very caffeinated/high jolt.(2) El Coqui (black bag) -- this is a another well-known Puerto Rican coffee brand. It's been cultivated in San Sebastián since 1986. Unlike the other coffees in this variety pack, it's 100% pure Puerto Rican coffee, not a blend, meaning no coffee from other countries is added to it. It's full-bodied and the flavor has nutty and faintly citrus notes.(3) Cafe Rico (red bag) -- this coffee is a medium-dark roast with a strong flavor and medium body, and is not bitter. It's a blend.(4) Cafe Crema (yellow bag with a red bottom) -- this coffee is a medium roast with a strong flavor and a creamy body. It's a blend and the flavor has chocolaty notes.

Puerto Rican coffee is not for everyone. It is a very fine grind (like espresso powder) and it creates an exceptionally dark coffee. I love dark coffee, but I have to add a bit of extra water when brewing up Puerto Rican coffee. My mom can't even drink it because she says it tastes like mud. If you like a very dark roast, I recommend giving this selection a try. It also makes a great gift for a dark coffee lover. You'll just need to repackage it into a decorative basket or box with a couple of mugs.

I love sampling different coffees. These are great if you need a fine grind set of coffees. I don't think it's very giftable because it doesn't have nice presentation, and the wooden spoon they include is kinda cheap. But the coffees themselves are great if you like darker roasts with fine grind (almost like espresso grind).
