McCormick Gourmet Organic Anise Seed, 1.37 oz

This anise seed is excellent quality and has a strong, fresh aroma right out of the bottle. The flavor is clean and pleasantly licorice-like without being overpowering, which is exactly what you want when baking. I used it to make S cookies, and it worked perfectly. The seeds added just the right amount of classic anise flavor and held up well during baking without turning bitter. You can really tell it’s fresh, which makes a big difference in traditional recipes where anise is the star. The organic quality is a nice bonus, and the packaging keeps the seeds fresh between uses. If you bake Italian or holiday cookies—or use anise in breads or teas—this is a great pantry staple to have on hand.

Like most McCormick choices,

So anise seed is like cat nip but for dogs. Not all dogs are affected by it but some are. I have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever 110lbs and a white lab 60lbs. My chessy did not really seem to get affected by it and did not want to even eat it much. However my little lab really liked it. She ate it right up and for about 10 minutes nothing happened so i figured it wasn't doing anything but then she started getting a little more energy. She started to run in circles, play tug-a-war with me (which she never does) and itching her left ear every so often. After a little bit she then curled up in my lap and licked me a lot and then shortly later got hyper again and then it seemed to wear off. This does not harm or mess up dogs I've done thorough research. Also giving catnip to dogs has the opposite effect and can calm them down significantly especially if they have anxiety. A weird review yes but if this happened to be of any help for those of you looking to do the same thing click the helpful button below it would mean a lot.

Anise seeds can be hard to find in New mexico at Christmas. But not on Amazon! I ordered these seeds and they arrived promptly in a convenient container. The label was also easy to read, another huge advantage. Thanks!
