Not my favourite
This wasn't one of my favourite books and I won't honestly be going out of my way to read more from this author. However, that is not necessarily a bad reflection on her as I also won't be going out of my way to avoid reading anything else. This was ok. It took me a long time to read and I'm usually a 2 to 3 day reader which is what I'm basing this review on mainly.I did like the twist but the ending seemed to suddenly rush.

Enjoyed this book
Without giving spoilers I can't really say much about The Breakdown. It is quite well written and kept me turning the digital pages. The story involves a family living on a tiny American island. They employ Jayne from England as a nanny, although she has no previous experience of being a nanny. There are not too many characters in the story so not too confusing, as happens in some other books.I think that maybe in the future when I have whittled down my list of present books I may get another book by this author.

Deceit
Took me a while to get into this I’ve got to be honest. Lots of characters to follow through on. Lots of red herrings. Lots of secrets and did honesty. People most definitely are not want they seem. Very good acting on everyone’s behalf and a story of distrust, deceit, dishonesty, and defamation of character unfold. Everyone as a secret, it appears as the story progresses . The idilic life on an island of Maine is not all it appears. It would be an insult to say you can second guess the ending, although suspicions start to form towards the end. The characters are so believable. So much drama, intrigue and sun plotting. Celeste is a mother of three, recently involved in a suicide attempt whilst heavily pregnant with her un born daughter and her other daughter in the car that finishes up in a lake. Thank goodness for the quick response of a student who dives in a saves them all. The result is Celeste is diagnosed with depression after and emergency delivery of her new baby. A nurse is hired to take care of the mother, an au pair hired to take care of the remaining children . Max the husband is a very handsome, caring, worried husband. Jayne is the au pair , and Stephen the doctor hired to look after Celeste. Marjorie is Max’s sister ther to help also. . All appears well but is it. The ending is superb. A great book that is intense, but not overly so. The suspense crackles, and leaves feeling satisfied at the end. The detective who is put on the case has to battle with lots of put downs also, but as I say the ending is fantastic, as is the book.

I absolutely loved this book. It kept me spellbound from start to finish - very addictive reading! Each character was depicted in such a way that my interest was piqued. The plot's twists and turns were well woven to lead the reader (me) into the tangled web.I can't wait to read more of Arianne Richmonde's books!

Another great book from Arianne Richmonde!
Another great read from Arianne Richmonde! Twisty, intriguing, and suspenseful. A great psychological thriller.Celeste is convalescing after apparently trying to take her own life, that of her unborn baby, Violet and young daughter, Lizzie. Her attentive and loving husband Max can’t find out what happened as Celeste suffered a traumatic head injury in the car accident and as a consequence now has terrible memory issues. Jayne, an au pair, is hired to help look after Lizzie and her brother Liam while their mother recovers. Soon enough Jayne realises that the family isn’t quite as perfect and happy as she originally thought. Also in the mix is the strange Dr Stephen who is a psychotherapist trying to recover Celeste’s memories and her domineering controlling nurse, Nurse Sharpe and Jayne starts to wish she hadn’t taken the job. However, when Lizzie goes missing Jayne has no choice but to stay put and while the police swarm the island trying to find Lizzie everyone becomes a suspect. Did Lizzie wander off on her own or was she abducted and if the latter, then who is the culprit.I really enjoyed this book. So twisty. As with all of Arianne Richmonde’s books I definitely felt a sense of unease while reading which really added to the suspense of the story. It didn’t take me long to become hooked and finding that every single character had secrets really kept the intrigue going. I loved the twist, and I definitely did not see it coming so, great job!I would highly recommend this book for any psychological thriller fans, Arianne Richmonde really knows how to write a story and I am never disappointed in any of her books. Twisty and brilliant. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.Thank you to Netgalley, Arianne Richmonde and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.

Bit boring tbh
I wouldn't call this a totally nail biting psychological thriller. I usually devour books but this one didn't grip me, I found a lot of th chapters long winded and drawn out. I knew the "twist" at the end way before it happened.
