Compared to the more expensive 3M it's great
I only have experience with 3M "finish line" and while it is a great product it's expensive for what it is. I wanted to try the "design line" but came across this and figured I would give it a try instead. There wasn't any reviews for this product in particular so I wasn't sure if I should. After using it I'm happy with the results. I feel it deserves a detailed review especially since there aren't any at this moment lol. Enough babbling, here are my thoughts compared to finish line. The filament is indeed metal wire. I'd say it's between 36-40 gauge so breaking should not be an issue. The wire filament cuts through vinyl really well. It cuts through carbon fiber vinyl much easier than finish line. It also starts much easier. I always have trouble starting the cut with finish but with the wire I have no issues. The wire is on the very edge unlike finish line being in the middle. This is a love, hate thing for me. I like that it makes for easier cutting and the fact that you can put it right on the edge of work. I dislike that this can cause you to have more tape to pull out after the cut. This depends on which way the put the tape though. The wire does really well in corners but you have to use relief cuts to manipulate it. This makes it a little more time consuming but the amount of time it saves all together makes up for it.A few things that I've learned to be helpful. Fold the end of the tape on the roll after each cut. It's a pain getting it started again if you don't do this. The wire will prick you and it doesn't feel good lol. Also the wire is only stuck to the tape so it tends to come off of the tape easily. This has only been an issue when trying to start without the end folded. I've not had any problems with the wire coming off the tape while laying it down. Even after pulling it up repeatedly it's stayed in place on the tape. Make sure to firmly press the tape down once you've got it where you want it. I haven't had this happen but I feel the wire could be pulled out from under the vinyl if it's not firmly stuck to your work. Keep constant tension and angle the wire back away from the cut. That goes with any of these filament tapes. Lastly, if you make relief cuts make sure to carefully pull the waste tape in those areas. It can break off causing you to lose your lead and having to peel up the edge of the vinyl to start it again. Conclusion: This product is a much cheaper alternative to the 3M tape. It performs really well and in some areas better than the competition. I don't feel this will completely replace the 3M finish line for me at least. It takes a little longer to lay curves with having to make relief cuts. I will go for the wire more will still have the finish line when time is an issue. I still recommend this over the 3M.

Must have for wrappers
This works great for using on thicker film's and even chrome film's.It can be tricky to start but it's a great product and has helped me immensely with chrome stripes that I am unable to plot out.

not for PPF
I bought this to cut PPF and it's not strong enough. The wire breaks easily and the PPF will just stretch. I wasted my money on this one. The PPF was 3m. I think it is 6 mil.. The wire is very thin so you need to leave at least 6 or 8 inches for something to grip onto.

Metal wire breaks easily, is impossible to grip
Metal wire breaks easily, is impossible to grip, and (because of those two things) is really difficult to get a cut started. Buy Knifeless.
