Panasonic DVD Player. Excellent, Been catching up on my films which were contained on Videos,previously. Remote Control - no volume button it but I suppose I can just use the TV volume control? Happy with this purchase. Sound quality - good. Compact size. Functionality. speed.

Bought this in January 2017 and only just got round to doing a review for it. We wanted a cheap, basic, DVD player for a spare room (as we rarely watch DVDs), and this fitted the bill exactly. We received a Panasonic DVD-S500EB-K, comes with remote. A couple of negatives - the power cord is pretty short (about 3 foot or so) therefore you have to be sure you'll place it near an electric socket, and there is no timer display (we knew that when we bought it, but didn't realise quite how annoying it would be to not know how much longer you've got to go on your film, etc.). But for £25 can't complain much, and it does 'remember' where you left off if you need to stop or pause a DVD. If this was for a main room I think we'd definitely choose one that had a timer on it, but then perhaps we'd spend more money on one for a main room. Haven't tried the multi-format capabilities so can't comment on that aspect.

Note: this is multi-format, not multi-regions, so it plays region 2 DVD's. You will need a scart lead too. However, it is very easy to set up and play and it seems to be of good quality and keenly priced. Obviously, it is not a blue-ray player, but I have hundreds of DVD's that I have collected over the years and this is perfect for allowing me to watch some of the older films that I like while the rest of the family watch another TV and not complain that it's "in black and white" and such like. It is an older model, so doesn't have an HDMI port, but it does have a USB port and recognises a number of AV formats. It works well with no discernible noise while playing and it is good value, so 5 stars for slightly older technology at work.

I wanted a simple DVD player and started off by purchasing the Sony DVPSR760 from a competitor. I was very disappointed and returned the item. So, more searching. This Panasonic was much cheaper, so I wasn't expecting great things. However, it is a cracking piece of kit! Very simple, no display, and a scart cable for connection ( which I like). The quality of picture is good and you get the feeling that there is not much to go wrong. There is a slight operational noise but only if you get right up to it-unlike the Sony, which was very noisy. If you just want to play DVD's and nothing else, I would recommend this to you.
