Great balance between suspense and romance
A cleverly-written story that keeps us guessing for a good long while!Sienna Walker is back in Reno after leaving eleven years earlier with a broken heart. However, she doesn't have much time to dwell on the past when she's called to a murder scene on her first night. It's a murder that will bring her face to face with Gavin Decker, the one she thought she'd spend the rest of her life with. It's a murder that is just the first loose thread that unravels some shocking secrets from the past; a history that is far too close to home. This story was a great balance between suspense and romance. I loved the second chance that Sienna and Gavin had, and how they resolved what had happened to them in the past. Their unacknowledged feelings hovered beneath every interaction they had. I was engrossed in the murder story, and the puzzles and clues that needed to solved. And, the ending! There was pathos and symmetry and tears. Such a fantastic read!

A great mind puzzle and a thrilling story
Another great thriller/mystery/suspense by Mia Sheridan. And although I'm used to more romance in her stories usually, this one was still good. Her last serial killers books were really very well written and I although they were a bit ugly and disturbing at places, they managed to keep my interest and make me question different theories. This one was surely a well-thought puzzle with some very unexpected turns and twists along the way.The ending when all was revealed was spectacular. It was so dynamic, with so much action and revelations. Such a masterful cobweb of tangled events and destinies that fit perfectly together and created this complicated serial killer playground. As in all Mia Sheridan's stories there was a slight love story within the other dreadful events. I wish we saw more of it but the whole thriller/suspense part of the story was great on itself. The title fit perfectly at the end when all the pieces clicked together. I questioned myself the whole time, being a mother myself, what would I have done if put in such a situation. I still have no answersLove the cover as well.A great mind puzzle and a thrilling story.

A quick, gritty read!
Bad Mother is a suspense thriller that reminded me a lot of Karen Rose’s work. I had enjoyed a lot of Mia Sheridan’s romance titles, so I was excited to see what she was capable of in the mystery genre. I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t really care for the romance side of things as I just felt this second chance romance was a little bit implausible. I don’t think I’d hook up with someone that ditched me at the alter but there we go!I didn’t read much about the synopsis before delving in, but the premise of a Bad Mother really intrigued me. This really helped me get lost in the story, without putting any pressure on it. Sometimes I find myself expecting something that never happens, so I gave the story room to breathe like a decent vintage. I was rewarded with an enjoyable reading experience. There’s emotion on every page and I just love a serial killer story.A cat and mouse game – the bodies keep piling up and the killer seems to know new detective to the department – Sienna Walker. He seems to know about her connection to her ex, Gavin Decker, winner of the world series in Poker. Why is the first body posed with a deck of cards? There was enough information about each character to determine what was going on regarding the plot. Reactions were genuine and I enjoyed the trajectory of the plot. The personalized notes from the killer also gave a unique take into the mind of a killer. It was messed up and it made me think about nature vs nurture.Bad Mother is a gritty read. It spins a tale about childhood trauma, thriller and romance and flowed with a raw sense of intrigue.

Great book
I really enjoyed this book, and, for once, I never guessed who the murderer was. Cleverly thought out. Likeable characters. Even had a few tears

4.5 stars
Really enjoyed this story. I loved that the H&H were older and not in their early 20’s, like so many of Mia’s characters as I felt I could identify with them more. I liked the suspense and drama. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it did lack a bit in the romance department for me - the relationship between Gavin and Sienna could have been developed more. Other than that, a solid story and wonderfully written as usual.

a pleasant surprise
I have come to not expect great things in books from kindle unlimited, only something to pass the time, and I was ok with that. However, this book took me by surprise from the start. An amazing page-turner, filled with suspense and a nice love story. I couldn’t recommend it enough.

Disappointing
Bad Mother is a twisted romantic suspense that left me a tad disappointed. The heroine, detective Sienna Walker, felt mild. She paled in comparison to the whole cast. Her behavior didn't match the personality the author depicted. Where is the assertion her job requires? Her second chance live story with Gavin lacked development, I would have liked more details, more intimacy between them. The mystery in itself was well interesting enough, but the execution and the outcome didn't convince me. The way the detectives and the "criminalists" gathered the clues and resolved the puzzles lacked professionalism. Seeing them making guesses stressed me out, but not in a good way. I had the impression they came to great conclusion by chance rather than talent.I ended up skipping parts in order to find out how the story ended.

What a page turner 🤯
Would highly recommend this book. So many twists and turns I just couldn't put it down. I haven't read one of Mia's books in a long while but boy am I glad I stumbled across this two days ago. What a brilliant job, Mia went all out with this one, it was fantastic 👏
