One day Raymond Francis, a chemist and a graduate of MIT, found himself in a hospital, battling for his life. The diagnosis: acute chemical hepatitis, chronic fatigue, multiple chemical sensitivities, and several autoimmune syndromes, causing him to suffer fatigue, dizziness, impaired memory, heart palpitations, diarrhea, numbness, seizures and numerous other ailments. Knowing death was imminent unless he took action, Francis decided to research solutions for his disease himself. His findings and eventual recovery led him to conclude that almost all disease can be both prevented and reversed. In Never Be Sick Again, Francis presents a seminal work based on these findings โ a revolutionary theory of health and disease: there is only one disease (malfunctioning cells), only two causes of disease (deficiency and toxicity), and six pathways to health and disease (nutrition, toxins, psychological, physical, genetic, and medical). This remarkable book answers the questions: What is health? What is disease? Why do people get sick? How can disease be prevented? How can it be reversed? It will teach readers, in one easy lesson, an entirely new way to look at health and disease โ an approach that is easy to understand, yet so powerful that they may, indeed, never have to be sick again. Providing a basic understanding of health and disease, this book takes the mystery out of disease. It provides readers, no matter what their present physical condition, a holistic approach to living that will empower them to get well โ and stay well. Review: Simple, common sense information for better health - This books is based on a common-sense premise that a disease is a result of inadequate nutrition and toxicity. The author appropriately suggests that if you get rid of toxins and provide your body with the nutrients it needs to keep on rebuilding healthy cells, you will never get sick. However, since most of us live in a toxic environment, it is almost unrealistic for an average person to meet the standards of health the author has set in order to "never be sick again" - but the ideas from this book may help you to improve your health. If you want to enjoy great health and long life, it only makes sense that you should look into the lives of people who have been living long and healthy lives - and especially because you will find avalanches of books on nutrition with contradictory information. Wisely, the author bases his health model upon the lifestyles of people who enjoyed not only longevity, but were also free of any degenerative diseases, at least while they lived cut off from the civilized world - like Hunzas from Pakistan and Vilcabambas from Peru. Both lived in mountain regions, ate food that was as close to its natural state as possible (free of pesticides, and genetically engineered ingredients), engaged in some form of vigorous physical exercise, through hard physical work, walking, running or traditional folk dancing, lived peaceful lives, and enjoyed community support. Again, since most of us do not live in health-inducing environments, the idea is to do as much as we can to improve our chances of better health. Most of this book is not geared toward any specific nutritional advice, but rather on how to minimize elements that weaken the immune system and make the body susceptible to diseases. Through six chapters, the author shares six pathways that contribute to our health: - Nutrition - learn to select and prepare the types of foods that will enable your cells to function at their best - Toxins - learn where toxins are found and how to avoid them - Psychological - body and mind are part of the same system; your thoughts and emotions have direct influence upon your health - Physical - do you have enough exercise, rest, sunlight and fresh air - Genetic - learn how to optimize your genetic potential and avoid genetic damage - Modern Medicine kills and injures millions of people every year. Learn how to make educated decisions about the treatments you may or may not need. Personally I like to read books by people who write them based on their own experience and not just by rehashing information they read elsewhere, so I appreciate that the author of this book was on a brink of death and has recovered his health by using the principles he shares in this book. He did also share interesting excerpts from different studies to support the points he was attempting to make, and although somewhat dated, they are still relevant today. Review: Very informative book - Very informative book. Sucked me in and helped me to make the right choices.

Simple, common sense information for better health

Excellent information & a very easy read!
I had noticed a gradual decline in both my health and my family's health over these past few years since finishing graduate school. I just attributed my current health situation (always tired and general malaise) to stress and lack of exercise, which were certainly contributing factors. My wife and I are 31 and 30, respectively and have generally been in good health, but we ate a fair amount of processed foods and never bought organic produce. This book provides an excellent understanding of the poor nutritional value of processed foods, how to select effective vitamins (and why), and also helps to explain the reason why non-organic produce is flavorless and watery. The author goes on to postulate a causal link between poor nutrition from our everyday food choices to appetite and obesity. I have a master's degree in biomedicine and can easily distinguish fact from fiction as it pertains to human health and disease. This author is well read and I highly recommend this book. A quick example of how this information has improved our family's health... Our children generally recover from stomach and respiratory virus infections in a day or two, but it often takes me more than a week to feel "normal" again. After adopting the changes outlined in this book for about a week, I recovered from a nasty stomach virus in the same 2-day time-frame as my kids. My wife stayed altogether healthy and didn't even catch the bug! I've also noticed that my body doesn't feel sleepy or bloated after meals. Digestion seems to happen much more smoothly and my appetite has been significantly reduced - which the author attributes to eating more nutritious foods. It's amazing to me how different I feel now as compared to before. I guess I grew accustomed to feeling slightly crappy all the time and accepted it as normal. On the flip-side, I had a ham & cheese croissant a few days ago and regretted it for about 4 hours with heart-burn, indigestion and stomach bloating/belching. I suppose the negative effects of processed foods is more obvious now that my body has been away from them for more than a month. I would also recommend that everyone look at "Seeds of Deception" by Jeffrey M. Smith to become more informed about GMOs and the misinformation being handed down to consumers by the FDA.

Compelling...Definitely worth a read!
This book has really opened my eyes to the modern world we live in today. When one stops to think for a moment, we are constantly exposed to toxins from various sources throughout our daily lives. It's time to have the wool pulled back from our eyes, and that is exactly what this book aims to do. The research that has gone into this book is very interesting and thought-provoking. My only "complaint" about the book is that it leaves you with the feeling that it is nearly impossible to escape all of the toxins we are all exposed to, so it made me feel a bit helpless. However, there are many things we can do to improve our health that have nothing to do with the medical community. It is time we all learn that medication is not always the answer to cure our ailments. The answer may be lying right in front of you at your local supermarket.

Sound advice how to stay healthy but you won't like it ...
Author is spot on on , info in the book is pertinent and I cross referenced his info from many sources ( over 30-40 books, most of them written by M.D.'s). Truth is not pleasant and nowadays most people( mainly younger generation) are brainwashed to only do and hear what they like and makes them feel good. If we do not examine why health conditions occur and allow ourselves to be the prisoners of the habits and foods we love, there are consequences. Please go to YouTube and see the author at over 80 yrs old how he looks and presents himself. Seeing is believing. There is AMPLE clinical evidence for over 80 yrs that vitamin C is an extremely potent and universal remedy. Please read books by renowned cardiac surgeon Thomas E.Levy M.D. so you understand how this brilliant and very cost effective therapy has been marginalized and twisted by flawed clinical trials designed to obliterate it. Also I may suggest books by Dr.Sherry Rogers M.D. to understand better the scientifically basis for the extensive advice in this book. Most physicians do not read but some clinical trials due to time constraints and most only pay attention to the conclusions. However methods used in the trials and statistics examination are paramount since these are most frequently manipulated for the advantage of the sponsor ( most often pharma company). I am a dentist and in dentistry over 70% of clinical information based on clinical trials is flawed and biased. This is a fact I noticed in 30 yrs of reading clinical journals. It is evident if one applies himself to read and understand all the material, and use critical thinking and statistical knowledge in data interpretation. Regarding nutrition, the saying "we dig our grave with our teeth" may apply well. IMHO I highly recommend this book. It gives the lay person the general guidance without burdening them with the medical scientific basis.

Staying or getting healthy is cheap and easy!
If you want to avoid getting a Chronic Illness, or to recover from one, read on. 35 years ago, I became a vegetarian. Since I wasnโt sure what health effects that would have on me, I started reading books on nutrition and health. As I read each book, I picked-up new ideas on ways to get and stay healthy, and I gradually adopted many of them. Since then I hadn't really dug into the topic of health. Then, over the past couple of years, circumstances and happenstance lead me back to the subject of health, and specifically Chronic Illness. And now, with the Internet (yes there was a time before the Internet), I came across a wealth of information that was previously not easily available. As an engineer I've learned that if you want to really fix a problem, you have to fix the Root Cause of the problem; otherwise, you're just addressing symptoms. One technique for finding the Root Cause is called "The 5 Why's". You ask "Why did this problem happen?", and to whatever the answer is to that question, you ask, "Why did that happen?. If you ask that question enough times, and if everyone participating in the process is honest with themselves, you will eventually reach the Root Cause, or causes, of the problem. So I started asking the 5 Why's about Chronic Illness, and I started to write-down what I had discovered. Then I came across this book, Never Be Sick Again by Raymond Francis, and it covers 99% everything I have discovered, and more! The one thing Mr. Francis missed, that I think, like good sleep, is vital to good health, is fasting. Conceptually, getting and staying healthy is easy once you understand the Root Causes of illness (there are only two). The only obstacles to doing it are usually self-imposed. Though, admittedly, if you do decide to do it, the beliefs and behavior of almost the entirety of our society create an environment that makes it more work than it otherwise would be. I encourage you to read this book and to start incorporating its concepts into your lifestyle. Dec 24, 2020 UPDATE: ------------------------- This book, along with the Pleasure Trap, provide the simple formula for getting and staying healthy. I hope you read them and follow their guidance. Once you see the answer, it all makes sense, and it's all simple, cheap, easy, safe, and effective. The hard part for most will be changing their mind. https://smile.amazon.com/Pleasure-Trap-Mastering-Undermines-Happiness/dp/1570671974/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=the+pleasure+trap&qid=1608827209&sr=8-1

Not much new here
If you read this type of book regularly, there isnโt much new here. The author finishes this book with a commercial for his web site where he sells health products. I canโt recommend this book. Meh.

Roots to the Fruits
To connect the "roots to fruits" analogy with Never Be Sick Again, you can think of the "roots" as the foundational principles that support a balanced life: wisdom, family, faith, work, and health. These roots provide the stability and nourishment needed for success and well-being. Just as in nature, when these roots are strong and well-maintained, they yield the "fruits" of a healthy, happy, and balanced lifeโmentally, physically, and spiritually. The book emphasizes the importance of these aspects for overall well-being. By focusing on balanced nutrition, mental clarity, spiritual alignment, and healthy relationships, one can foster wellness and harmony in every aspect of life. Just as good health is the fruit of a well-nourished body, success and happiness in life come from the solid "roots" of wisdom, balanced work, strong family ties, and faith. Never Be Sick Again supports the idea that cultivating strong foundational habits (roots) leads to positive, healthy outcomes (fruits) in all areas of life. "If there is a will to make difficult things happen, then that will can be fulfilled." This reflects the central theme of Never Be Sick Again: the power to transform our health and life lies within our mindset. By nurturing the rootsโwisdom, family, faith, work, and healthโyou cultivate the fruits of a balanced, fulfilling life.

Something to read and ponder
Easy to understand. Common sense in words. Anyway, I have to read it again to finally completely change my old mindset. Although nearly all statistics are based in USA, they equally apply to our western world.

The best book on the matter
This book is a must-read for those who really want to know about not get sick again. The author knows about the subject as he has applied the proper principles and the fact that he is an accomplished scientist. His own brother was healed of cancer. I was healed of skin cancer as I applied the principles. It really works.
