Rainbows - Need I say More
Who doesn’t need a great pair of flip flops in their lives??? I bought those to go with my dress for my moms beachy wedding! They matched perfectly and I am left with any amazing pair of flip flops to wear anytime!!

Not for wide feet
I wear an 8.5-9 in womens shoes and I bought the 8.5-9.5 in this shoe. I also have a pretty wide foot. In my Chacos, my foot is right on the edge and my go to sneakers tend to be New Balances because those run wider. Nikes can sometimes fit me but often they are too narrow. These flip flops were definitely too narrow for me. I would liken them to a Nikes width (maybe slightly more narrow than Nikes). But it felt sturdy and durable, just not for me.

Arch support in flip flop form is nice
I had never owned a pair of Rainbows before this order but I had heard very good things. I sort of wish I had ordered these in the single layer as the double layer seems very difficult to break in. I wore them on "casual Friday" (which at my office is VERY casual) which consisted of walking to and from my car a couple times, a few strides around the office, and a short walk at lunchtime - maybe 6 blocks. I had a big blister under the strap on my left foot by the time I got home that night. It started to heal up so I wore them again on Monday without much of a problem. Instead of hurting my feet, however, the shoes were just really stiff. I pick up my feet when I walk but these shoes make an annoying "flip-flop-flip-flop" sound because they hit the ground so hard. I actually felt bad walking up the stairs to my apartment at a late hour because they were so loud. I will contribute this to the fact that they are heavy and seemingly well made and have not yet conformed to my feet, but I don't know how long that is expected to take. I got the double layer because I love wearing sandals and want them to be as durable as possible, but maybe I set myself up for this list of complaints by not buying the single layer. The arch support is great. I never though arch support existed in cute flip flops, but Rainbow made it happen. Honestly, I could stand to use an even bigger orthopedic support but these are not much smaller than the real deal that most people can only get with inserts. It is much more comfortable to wear and walk in these than the cheap flip flops I used to buy, for obvious reasons.I like them and I will keep them. I look forward to the day that they are sufficiently broken in and I will likely buy a few more sandals in different styles. But next time I'll probably buy the single layer instead of the double.

I love these sandals - I used too think $40 was way too expensive for flip flops, but they're worth every penny. I almost got the large size; i'm in between a 7.5 and 8 depending on the shoe style (7.5 in heels and 8 in sneakers sometimes even 8.5) and brand. I decided to be conservative by saying i'm a high end 7.5 and went with the medium size. I decided on the medium because I did a lot of research before purchasing these and knew that you want them to fit perfectly so that your heel is right to the back and toes right at the front. The medium was the right choice as they fit just like they should. A few weeks later I had the opportunity to try on a large and was happy to find that they would have been way too big. The straps gave me blisters for the first two weeks so that I only wore them walking around the house or with bandaids or a while. However, after two weeks they broke in and now I wear them everywhere. I love how they fit and 4 months later, I still think they l have a lot more breaking in to do such that they will only get better with time like a fine wine. I am 25 and have been wearing birkenstocks religiously since I was 13 so I was very opposed to 'going over to the dark side' and giving rainbows a try. I ultimately decided to make the switch because I go through Birkenstocks like water (i need a new pair about every 1.5yrs), my last pair only lasted me a year (I do a lot of walking to places) and they are wayyyyyyy too expensive to wear out so quickly. Birkenstock doesn't repair their shoes for gratis, they charge you to do so and I think a company should stand by its product like rainbow does. Rainbow makes an incredible sandal that is worth every penny. I haven't put my Birkenstocks back on since I broke my rainbows in because every time I almost do so I remember that my rainbows fit my feet like a warm hug.

Great shoes
I've have an old pair of Rainbows and wanted a newer "going out" pair. When I ordered, I couldn't remember the size of the last pair, so I measured my longest foot. It came in exactly at the 8 1/2 size. I normally wear a size 9 shoe so I went with the larger size because I had read that Rainbow sizes ran small. I have short toes which may play in to it being large, but my heel was further from the back than I wanted. I could wear these, but with the added 3 /8" at the toes, it sets me up for a trip. I've ordered the next size down which should be too small, but I believe that's the size of my last pair which was a single layer collegiate pair but perfect. With that being said, I love my Rainbows. I know it sounds strange but I have Planters Fasciitis. At it's worst, these were the only shoes I could wear with any level of comfort. I've had this problem for over a year and can't shake it even by adding pads to other shoes. It's nice to have something to slip on for around the house. They're too grungy to wear out.Rainbows are very tight and uncomfortable when you first get them and you have to break them in. My husband and I got our first pair at the same time. I'm in mine all the time around the house and they're soiled but in good shape. He hasn't even broken his in yet. I keep telling him how comfortable mine are so he's decided to give it a try. My son had a pair for years and wore them until the toe had worn all the way down to the pavement. I finally bought him another pair as a gift. No questions about the quality, durability and comfort. I never understood how such a simple looking shoe could wear so good. I do now. I'll be interested if I like the double stack as well as I liked the single.
