Intelligent, science based script, not for action junkies
This review is for 'Eve of Destruction' released in 2012 by Sonar Entertainment.RATINGS: I'm giving this two part movie, 4 stars. Honestly I'd like to rank it higher. I just don't like to hand out 5 star ratings unless the movie is very good and the overall presentation of the release is very good (In this case, a few decent extra's and I would have given it 5 stars).I'm giving the plot of the movie itself an 8.5/10.COMMENTS/CONCLUSIONS:I was really very impressed with this movie. I was not expecting it to be that good. I purchased this thinking that it was an 'end of the world' type of movie. It is not that but it is a movie that could have led to the end of the world. I think it would have made an excellent pilot for a television series that was about life after the apocalypse.I liked the fact that the writers of this movie kept the movie grounded in science. Even though I didn't quite understand the science, that is OK. I'd much rather not understand some of what is going on in an intelligently written film than to get a movie that is dumbed down for a dumb audience. I find myself routinely disgusted with how dumb many modern science fiction movies are. I'm not saying that the science in this movie is accurate or even believable to somebody with a science degree. What I am saying is that if the science is completely wrong, it is complex enough to fool 99% of the audience. Of course, the science of the dumbest Disney movie is complex enough to fool 90% of the people. I think it's obvious that I am quite cynical of the intelligence of today's cell phone audiences.I have read a lot of critical reviews for this movie. Most of it centers around the movie being 'too long'. See my previous comment about today's audiences. Once upon a time I used to think people enjoyed epic length movies. Sadly today's audiences can't sit still for 3 hours and if there isn't an explosion or some set piece action scene every 5-10 minutes then it's face back in cell phone.Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised. I disagree with those who say the movie is boring. It's most likely going to be boring to somebody who is either not paying attention or does not understand anything that is going on. I don't believe any movie is too long if it's good. If it's good then 100 hours long wouldn't be too long for me. I'm not saying it's that good but I never got the impression that it was too long.RECOMMENDATIONS:I'm recommending this for any person that likes hard science in their science fiction movies and not explosions, crashes and/or deaths every 5 minutes. If you are looking for an intelligent science fiction movie then this is for you. If you are looking for mindless popcorn fun then look elsewhere.

A new variant of science fiction
The dark matter plot stands out. I liked the ideas, the characters and the cast. Each could have been fleshed out a little more. I don't know whether crew inexperience or budget was more limiting. But it's fun science fiction that doesn't try to double as horror or gory (which crossover I despise).

An OK Movie
Good disaster movie, though long on minutia and short on disaster.

How far are you willing to go
This is NOT a natural disaster movie. This movie is about the foolishness of mankind as a whole, cooperate greed as a side line and the dangers of lying on all levels. This is a two part mini-series where scientist delve into new areas without following the proper safeguards. When that is happening, what can the endangered members of society do to stop this disaster. The storyline is good but the acting should have been much better. This is a excellent family movie that will give parents a golden opportunity to teach there children about right and wrong and decision making.

new Eve of Destruction
This movie surprised me I never heard of it before, but it was a fairly good movie for a B picture. I won't spoil the story line all I will say is science fiction fans will enjoy it and another surprise no gore thank God, give it a try people.

Familiar faces in a sci-fi flick that plays a bit like a soap opera. I mean that in an acceptable way.
A two-parter... that probably was a bit of a s-t-r-e-t-c-h, but, I'm retired. IHAVE the time... the popcorn... the pretzels... the "beverage-of-choice".In short: I enjoyed myself.

Nettes Unterhaltung für Sonntags im TV
Hatte keine großen Erwartungen an diesem Zweiteiler.Kam pünktlich an. Nett anzusehen.. Effekte ganz in Ordnungfür eine TV Produktion. Und Treat Williams als Bösewicht warauch mehr als erwartet gut. 3 1/2 Sterne
