Didn't know what to expect upon ordering when looking to fill an marine safety need.Like the made in USA and the quality is very good.I have not given this thing a full blast, but a partial blast was indeed painful on the old ears; I will test it at full blast, but not without hearing protectionBought one, and liked it so much, bought 3 more, for female emergency use.Blast this baby and you'll get noticed.Be careful to avoid the asian knock-offs; insist on the American made model only.

Took the pain lesson of other reviewers as posted, and wore sound isolation headphones the first time that I blew it. As it was sounding off, I started to remove one of the ear pieces just barely, and it's really super loud. Perfect for a bug out bag (mine's destination). Package warning - it may damage the user's hearing if blown for extended periods of time - use hearing protection is true. Not for sporting events. In an emergency - it's the only noise source you'll want.

Very very loud. Will make your ears ring. I use it to call my dog in the woods and he recognizes it and hears it very well. If I needed it for an emergency, I imagine it could be heard for quite a distance. The build quaility seems to be good and being plasticI do not have to worry about it rusting/corroding. It should last many many years.

I'm an avid kayaker, free diver, and genral outdoorsman. I am also a lifegaurd. This whistle is great and is by far the loudest whistle I've ever owned. The only trouble is it's size. Still, I keep it either around my neck or clipped to my pack anytime I'm outdoors for an extended amount of time.

Light weight, plastic, loudest whistle I have ever used. This makes the loudest high pitch sound! You need ear protection with constant use. It is LOUD. It works underwater. Great for diving to get your dive partners attention. It is a little larger than a traditional whistle.

I did a lot of searching before buying this whistle. It is a great survival tool. I ordered 2. One for my bugout bag and one for my pickup truck survival bag. EXTREMELY loud. My color of choice would be orange. High visibility should you drop it in the snow or on the ground. It is too large for my EDC key chain. For that I purchased a metal police style whistle. Takes a beating and is small enough for the key ring. But at least 2-3. You won't be sorry.

Way bigger than I imagined and did not like the feel or even using it. I gave three stars because the company is a great company that took care of me right away when I expressed my concern and that I did not want it.

This is VERY LOUD as it should be. Something you would want to own if you are lost in the woods.
