Interesting read
An enjoyable read but ruined for me by its abrupt ending. Not, I have to say up to his usual standard of writing.

Fantastic read
This was a great book, again Jeffrey Archer comes up trumps with another great novel. I have read all his novels , there is always a twist on the story, nd this book did not let me down.

Just a great read!
I cant share a one star reviewer who felt this was, trite and unconvincing, but I do actually understand what he means......For me I am always amazed how Geoffrey archer keeps his audience with his fantastic skill as a story teller, even when the subject isn’t somethig of real interest to yourself! I do however, feel this was lazy at times and full of padding about the minutiae or electioneering (as a previous book) and business take-overs and board members (again, identical to one of the books in his chronicle series)So this story is essentially about twins seperated at birth.....nothing new about that. One to a social class of priviledge and the other to a modest household. But in fact, thats about as much as we know regarding their different upbringing ? Throughout the book thre is little mention about their parents again. But still I was enthralled by every word and never once lost interest. And yes, it was forumulaic - baddies and goodies - all finally mixing in the upper echelon of society (bank chairmen, senators, academics) but perhaps Mr Archer knows no other kind of life??And so the twins criss cross each other’s lives and the reader is constantly waiting for the massive reveal - which doenst seem to be happening at all!? There is a tempting line from one of the grown up children at one stage ‘Have you noticed how Fletcher looks similar to Nat aroudn the jawline’ ..... and the excitement mounts. But no - superbly passsed over and nobody mentions it again. Until almost the end of the book and I have to say that it was the biggest let down ever !! Not least because of the most honourable reasons to keep it to themselves....so the joyous reaction from the genuine mother of both boys (thought to have died in hospital) never occurred. Even the reaction of the brothers themselve was underwhelming!Nevertheless I thoroughly enjoyed this book - as far fetched as it was at times - because its all about being entertained really for me. And this didnt fail in any way!

Another brilliant read!
Jeffrey Archer has done it again! He really is an amazing story teller, and this was just as good the others I have read. Twin boys separated at birth follow different lives but ultimately what transpires is how they deal with life and what it throws at them on becoming the next Governor of State. A very compulsive and compelling read. Most enjoyable!

⭐⭐🐞❤️😈😀Cool Book, Awesome Read 😀😈❤️🐞⭐⭐
As they say, Jeffrey Archer should get the Nobel Prize for storytelling.Cool book, wasn't so long according to me and I finished it quite fast. The current one I am reading "As the Crow Flies" seems longer. I am still at ~40%.Okay the story in a nutshell is one night in a hospital two ladies come to give birth. One lady, a millionaire's wife, gives birth but the son dies in a cot. Another lady gives birth to twins and in a filmi twist the nurse of the millionaire's wife swaps the dead child for one of the living twins. So, one of the brothers goes to live a rich boy's life as Fletcher Davenport and the other goes to live a middle class life as Nat Cartwright. They almost come to know of one another in their teens when they both fall in love with the same girl, Diane, but it's so near yet so far away. Nat goes on to University of Connecticut and then leaves to fight in the Vietnam war, returning a war hero. Fletcher goes to Yale and becomes a Defence Lawyer. Nat marries an illegal immigrant, Su Ling and Fletcher marries his childhood sweetheart Annie. Both brothers face the same nemesis Ralph Elliot and finally Fletcher and Nat's paths cross when due to Ralph's machinations Nat's only son commits suicide and Nat is accused of murdering Ralph. So, Fletcher agrees to be Nat's defence attorney. This all occurs when they are running for the Senate from Connecticut. Nat and Fletcher finally find out they are brothers when Fletcher has a near fatal car accident and Nat runs to donate blood and the doctor at the hospital informs them. The brothers decide to keep it a secret. Knowing all this, they both still run for governor of Connecticut in 1992. On election day, after several rounds of counting the votes the result is still tied. The winner was ultimately appointed by the toss of a coin. Chapter 31 starts by saying Fletcher always likes to call heads. Read the book to see who wins. It's a good book, well written, good to read.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐5 stars

Fortunate Selection
Based on this book's meeting my expectations, I have to give Sons of Fortune 5 stars. It was an entertaining, well crafted, and fun read. I enjoy how Archer's writing style tends to match the setting of his stories. He's English, but in this book, for example, it is clear he grasps U.S. culture, language, education anomalies, and politics. I especially appreciate how he develops his characters from childhood, through maturity and into adulthood.
