A book that will change your life
I came across this book a little by accident, but bought it based on reviews and was convinced by the content while reading it. I started to implement the strategies before I was even 1/3 way through and the kg started literally falling off.All I can say is this: the science in the book is like the world’s best kept secret that needs to be told. The process is so utterly easy is seems it shouldn’t work, but it not just works, it is transformational. There is no calorie counting, no 15 grams of carbs v 30 grams protein blah blah, all that we’ve been taught was wrong. In the first 4 weeks I lost 8 kg, another 4 weeks and I settled at a weight 15 kg lower, which I've maintained for 8 months now. And it’s so, so easy. When I think about the years of trying to consume fewer calories than I expended, deficits, burning calories, it was all wrong (but I now know why that way of thinking was pushed). I’m now at my lightest weight in over 30 years, toned flat stomach, feel full of energy (started training for a marathon), lowered blood pressure, and I’ll never give up my newly discovered way of life. I love it and I’m so proud of myself. Thank you Dr Hameed. I hope your book is bought the world over. Ps. since I started I’ve also read books by Prof Tim Specter, which are also good but trust me, read this first!! Best of luck to everyone and enjoy the journey!…

Companion to the cookbook of the same author
I bought this and the cookbook to go hand in hand. There cookbook has lots of delicious recipes that I could actually see me wanting to eat and this book delves more deeply into the science. The author has a knack for speaking science to people not really familiar with it. I will adopt the principles one day because I have not been brave enough to trust that eating full fat foods does not make you fat so long as you do not eat carbs (fruit excluded) because it goes against everything we have been told. The science convinces me and also the NHS apparently so it isnt some fad. No doubt things will changes science uncovers more but what is absolutely certain is that processed foods are quite literally ultimately very toxic to us. I am now trying to cut them out gradually. The food industry has a lot to answer to perhaps they initially acted without knowing what they were doing but they continue to act like drug pushers by putting sugar and other cheap ingredients into mass produced foods to make them palatable. Putting sugar into baby food gets people hooked early on. They are not born with a sweet tooth. Foods sold on the basis of being healthy have a lot of unhealthy ingredients added.

Very good
Finally, an NHS specialist in weight-loss writing some sense, after all these years.Very good book. It's a shame it's not marketed better (got more support from other consultants and specialists). It would make a world of change. My only issue (but in fairness Dr Hameed keeps it simple) - is that there are other possible links to weight gain not discussed in depth in the book. (no doubt these are considered too medical to discuss). Perhaps in time, the public will learn more about the issues of:Food sensitivity/intolerance, thyroid health, inflammation, gut/wall permeability - auto-immunity, water retention etc.... and WHY other people can't lose weight so effectively

A life changing book
I was recommended this book by a good friend who works in the NHS. It was easy to read and so interesting that I finished it in 2 days. That was 4 weeks ago and now I am 3 kg lighter, happier and enjoying positive comments from people saying how well I look.3 years ago, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease which was initially treated with steroids. I subsequently gained 6 kg and have wanted to get back to my old weight ever since. Now I feel I am on my way. There isn't one thing from the book that is a magic bullet: I recommend reading all the chapters in order to understand your relationship with food. Dr Hameed knows her stuff - the science is up to date and she has a great way of turning it into something tangible that you can incorporate into your daily life. The section on why convenience foods are anything but convenient, resonated with me and has changed the way I shop. I now only buy 'real food' and feel content that I am no longer under the marketing influence of companies who want me to get hooked on their ultra processed products. This is the healthiest and easiest way I have dropped pounds. I would recommend the book to anyone who wants to improve their relationship with food, become healthier and fit into the clothes in the back of their wardrobe that haven't been worn for ages as they are 'a bit too tight' :)
