Petmate 22793 Retracting Litter Pan, Brushed Nickel

This litter box is one of the best I've found. It's roomy and large enough for my cats to use and easily turn around in with extra space (my cats are both between 9 to 10 lbs. each but one of them is long). The box is attractive, easy to clean, and sturdy. I don't use the top or retracting cover so can't comment on that. The box is a bit pricey compared to some, but I like the box so much I bought another one for my 2nd litter box. The sides aren't super high if you have a litter kicker but the sides are higher than a lot of boxes and you can always use the lids if your cat(s) tolerate it. I hope this box sticks around because if/when I need to replace it, I want to buy the same one. I highly recommend it.

This is a very good large litter box. It has a high back and with the hood, it keeps my cats from making a huge mess. The retractable lid is very helpful to make it easier to clean out the box and there is still plenty of space for my to crawl in and out of the box. I have one male orange tabby cat that is pretty big and he fits in the box just fine. I ended buying a second one of these because the first one worked so well for us.

I was searching for a rectangular "side entry" litter box to go with an almost 25 year old "Zero-Max Booda Box" my cats still use and like and this was the only one I could find. It's somewhat bigger and more square - which is fine, and the cats like it even better. The top is quite flimsy so if you have cats that sit on or jump to/from the top of the litter box top this is NOT the unit you want. Also, the drop down shield does NOT move all the way to the back when in the open position (as the Zero-Max shield does) so if you need to use it as I do - as open as possible - simply don't install the shield, because it cuts down considerably on access to the litter area, making it much narrower. If the Zero-Max ever gives up the ghost I'll be getting another one of these to replace it.

These are great for my 10 pound cats. I've used covered litter boxes with clear domes for years because I have one kitty who thinks she's an avenging angel whose purpose in life is to attack kitties leaving the litter box. With the clear dome, they are forewarned of her impending attack. Also, because of their desire to escape her wrath, they all exit the litter box in a massive leap, trailing cat litter behind them. Trust me, there is no such thing as a litter that doesn't stick to paws! Anyway, this box solves both problems. She is visible through the clear part of the hood, but the cat inside the litter box has to step out on the litter trap mat instead of leaving a trail of litter up to 3 feet from the litter box. Also, if she tries to leap on them, the curved dome foils her attack. It's a win for everybody but her, and she needed to stop that behavior anyway!

It's large and functions as intended for the cat: keeps the litter and odors contained. However, it is not convenient for cleaning. I use a flushable litter and have to move the box to near the toilet. Without a handle is hard to move a large box like that. Also, just opening the hood, it is not possible to scoop out the dirty litter without spilling it all over the floor. Opening the box is not the solution, either because the latches are clumsy and it's hard to reassemble. Plus, when you open the box, the hood stays attached and falls into the dirty litter. It's a mess, no matter what. I will be looking for another litter box. :(

Our cats are OBSESSED with this litter box. We have two cats that produce an impressive (and terribly stinky) amount of waste, and we’ve struggled to find a litter box they like that isn’t open and available for our dog to munch on their little leavings.While trying this litter box out, we left their two original litter boxes next to the new one in case they didn’t like it. The old boxes haven’t been touched by them in days, and they’re both exclusively only using this litter box.We’re impressed since not only do our cats like it and our dog is unable to access the droppings, but it’s also significantly cut down on the normal smell of cat waste. I’ll be recommending this litter box to any of my friends that are tired of the ammonia smell with their cats.

Ok so yeah the box is large. Has a high top but.... The hood is difficult to latch because it is flimsy. The plastic sheild is to low for the cats to use it and you cannot use liners if you are smart enough to figure out how to assemble it correctly. (It doesn't come with instructions. The see through hood attaches to the base of the box not the detachable cover) extremely hard to wash due to the sheild being attached to the base. Would not buy again.

I originally got the Omega Elite Row N' Clean (improved version), and it honestly was turning out to be as much of a hassle as a normal scooping box, so I just got a normal scooping box. This box is a normal scooping box, but the retractable function makes it so much better than its competitors. The odors rarely escape, and its easy to push back and clean. The box is very large which can make it a pain to scoop just based on how much scooping is involved, but the cat loves how big it is and is able to hide his excrements far more thoroughly than with the previous box, which adds to the odor control nature of the hood and filter.

Me llego en muy perfecto estado con todas las piezas con filto e instrutivo,que creen cuando la arme y luego la puse en practica, se lo puse a la mas dificil de mis gatos, ella se surraba afuera con las otras cajas ,pero con esta entro ahi hizo y no afuera ,le gusto mas esta caja arenero, por ser discreta y de color gris obscuro, eso le hizo perfecta para ella y tambien para mis otros dos gatitos, les gusto mucho voy a volver a ahorrar otro poco, voy a pedir otra al ver que si les encanto a mis gatitos mucho, ademas la limpieza es mas facil si es resistente, funciona perfetamente para 4 o 3 gatos sin poblema,sin hacer regadero de arena,lo compre a tiempo mas barata, que ahora subio mas de 70 pesos del valor, aun asi la volveria a comprar

So far so good, it's been a month, I have 4 cats and they all go in it. The cleaning part is the only thing bothering me, the longest sides being curvy its hard to scoop the big pee clumps without making a mess. But otherwise it's great and my dog can't go snack in it!
