I made a decision to not color my hair anymore (embrace my beautiful naturally curly hair and natural highlights) and I noticed in the last year, my hair has more silver than ever before but my previous black hair looked more brown, which was frustrating because it looked mousy and dull. This purple shampoo neutralizes any brassiness, making the dark hair look darker and richer and the silver hair brighter!Remember, purple neutralizes brassy gold tones. If you use a blue based shampoo, your hair will turn GREEN!This purple based shampoo is great and I also use Alberto VO5 Conditioning Hairdressing Gray or White or Silver Blonde Hair. I put the shampoo on my hair while it's dry, then add a little water and massage it in. Leave it on for about five minutes (be sure to get all your hair including your hairline), then rinse, rinse, rinse. This is more so for people with salt and pepper hair that is virgin hair and not treated with any chemicals. I imagine that people with whiter hair may not need to leave this on as long. I did not have any purple strands on my silver hairs. This shampoo did not stain my hands or nail polish but use gloves if you are concerned it may stain your skin. Use a dark towel because you will see the purple in the towel.This also works great on relaxed hair going silver gray or white.

My white/gray hair was turning yellow. Aster exhaustive research I came across this product. After one use no more yellow just a bright white. Worth every penny. I am going to buy a 2nd bottle to insure that I always have one available. My hair is a few inches below my shoulders and only used about the size of a quarter, massaged in hair, let sit for a couple of minutes, rinsed well then applied same brand conditioner which I left in for about 5 minutes. Hair bright and shiny white, smooth, soft and manageable. Next 2 times I used regular shampoo and conditioner. No change in white brightness. Does not leave any purple tinge on hands or anywhere else.

I really did my research and discovered this shampoo for my wavy, thinnish, white (only 55 but totally white - darn genetics) hair. I was really shocked at the dark purple color of this shampoo and had nightmares about sporting purple tinged hair and hands, but all I got was BRIGHT!, soft, and shiny hair!I usually shampoo with a high-end Redkin product to reduce dryness and breakage, but I'm switching.The only problem I had was that there aren't any directions in English, but I posted a question on Amazon and many people responded. You only need a pump or two, wash as usual (I leave in for about a minute), rinse, and done.This product is worth the money.

This is a great product for silver/grey hair. I have used several and feel, for my chin length, fine hair that this has been the best. It is not thick, so only a few pumps are needed for lots of suds. Nice light scent, rinses clean. Leaves my hair shiny and soft. The purple color does not stain, rinses away in the shower. I am not sure yet if I will rotate between regular and purple shampoo as I did with the last type I used, to prevent purple hair. It doesn’t seem like every wash would be a problem. I have used spray on conditioner, but I think anything that your hair responds to would be ok with this shampoo. I am deducting a star, because of the fine, unreadable print on the bottle, and instructions on Amazon order site that instructed to towel dry then apply shampoo....REALLY? Who washes their hair AFTER towel drying! But I guess if we are old enough for silver hair, we should know how to shampoo it! Also, I am not a fan of pump type dispensers, and the price has gone up $4 in a week, so that contributes to star deduction.

My blonde is slowly moving toward silver/gray and I was looking for something to help take out the dull yellow patches that are still left in my hair. This shampoo works GREAT for me. I don't use it every day although I think it would be fine to do so. I am using it at least 3 times a week and saw a huge difference after the first week. My hair also feels softer and seems to dry quicker. I definitely recommend this shampoo.

I've been battling my early-onset gray for many years, most recently with the Touch of Gray products, which honestly never looked very good but it was either that or a full-on color, which was even worse. No longer. This product brings out the best in a gray look for men: silver highlights, platinum mid-tones, and gun-metal dark elements. I still wish I was not gray as I am, but my gray is looking as good as it possibly can now - I'm no longer self-conscious about it. I don't like to shampoo every day as it dries out my already dry hair, so I pair this with Jhirmack Ageless Conditioner (also available online here) and every other day I skip this shampoo and condition only to keep my gray looking great.

It is of good quality but does not really leave a luminous or vibrant platinum on your hair. If your highlight are very blonde and not so yellow this is great. It makes them shinier and more natural looking. If you are trying to fix golden caramel highlights... this won’t work.

Sixty years old, gray hair, gray beard. I have recently grown my hair out and it looked dingy, sort of yellow. After some research, this came to the forefront, and I threw the dice. Works like a charm. Be careful, especially on the first run. I did five minutes and had a bit of a purple tint to my hair! But I actually got several compliments! If you go much, it will calm down in a couple of shampoos. I now shoot for about thee minutes, once per week and my hair is the silver color I was looking for. Good stuff. It's a bit expensive, but the bottle should last quite awhile.
