Works like a champ but don't rush the setup
I purchased this card to connect my Dell Windows 7 64-bit desktop PC to my Sound Devices 702 recorder, for downloading of audio takes from the recorder to the PC.As soon as the package arrived, I popped the card into the PC. The extra power connection on the card was neither necessary nor desirable for use with the SD 702. Upon restart, Windows immediately auto-installed the required driver for the TI chip-based interface. However, I had rushed things by connecting the SD 702 during this initial bootup, and the corresponding disk drive device was not installed properly (as seen from Windows Device Manager). I manually uninstalled that device, then, following a clean bootup, reconnected the SD 702. This time, the disk drive device was installed cleanly and worked fine.I did find that it's necessary to disconnect the Firewire cable from the SD 702 following Windows "eject" of the device. When I left the cable plugged in and tried to turn off the recorder, it hung up with a "closing media" display.

Easy installation, works well with Phase One capture back
I bought this board to connect to a Phase One Digital back. The FireWire board I had previously was giving errors. I knew the camera back worked as I had tested it on other computes. When I installed this board, which took less than 5 minutes, it was recognized immediately by Windows 7. I connected my camera back and all was good with the world. No problems, no difficulty. Also, the package comes with a power adapter. I wasn't able to use this as it was a legacy item for older PCs. Modern power cables are smaller. It didn't need it, so no problem. I have a HP Z230 if that is relevant to the reader.

Works like a dream!
Well, I was skeptical about this because I was not sure if it would fix my problem. I have a pretty beastly computer and I bought a m-audio profire 610 for recording some songs. After receiving it and trying it out it had all sorts of pops and crackles and lag on it. M-audios site recommends a flurry of solutions and trying them all with none of them working i was forced into having buy a dedicated firewire card. (last hope) The thing is, they strongly suggest having the Texas Instruments chipset and unfortunately they are more expensive than other sets. I was upset that I had to dish out another $50 when I just bought the 610 for $400. I was ready to blow up if this didnt work.... BUT! Thankfully, easy install, booted up Windows 7 and it recognized it and installed everything necessary and viola!! Perfect clean sound!!! In just a few minutes i was up and recording and having fun :DRead this article on the importance of a dedicated firewire card if you have not yet...[...]Giving 4 stars only because of price. Definitely a quality product though.

Works for Allen And Heath ZedR16!
Anyone looking for a quick and easy solution to using a FireWire mixer should be pleasantly surprised by this card. I had ran into a whole list of problems on my old computer with the last PCI card I used. After a good amount of research I was confident that this card would work just fine on my new computer with an Intel I7-7700k MSI Z270 Gaming Pro carbon mother board and an Allen And Heath ZedR16 FireWire mixer. It was literally plug and play...That never usually happens with me and hardware this old. I was so happy I couldn't believe it. I wish I could personally thank Allen And Heath for keeping their driver support up to date with windows 10. Unlike other companies and boards I have tried... After plugging the card in it did make a few strange noises while the card installed itself with the latest drivers. But then BAM! worked like a charm. I hope this helps anyone looking to use this specific set up, because for me it was really a shot in the dark.

This is the one to get...
Unfortunately I didn't see this item originally and ordered an older Fire Wire port for Mini-DV. After I found out about the incompatibility and low quality of the other adapter, I searched again. This one is it. Got in two days. Dropped it in. Fit perfectly. Also has a bracket for low profile machines. Fired up the PC and Win7 immediately recognized it and installed drivers. It immediately recognized my Panasonic DV camcorder after I connected them. You'll need a longer cable. I ordered the Belkin. I have transferred 12 or so tapes at this point. Quality is great. Very happy. Bottom line is that there is a lot of content out there on old formats. There will be a need for these kinds of adapters for some time.

Incompatible with Mackie Onyx 1640i on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
I had issues that were ultimately unresolvable with this card - yes, the Mackie 1640i drivers are not officially supported on Win10, but I had the hardware working with two other Windows 10 machines, so I was pretty certain that Mackie was not at fault over this. Clean installations of Enterprise, Home, and Pro versions of windows 10 64-bit with full updates did not resolve the issue, nor did changing cables, swapping the PCI-e slot on my Z170 Deluxe, or anything else. The OS could detect the card and the mixer + all its available channels, but cannot actually get/send sound to/from the mixer. The culprit proved to be this card after I swapped to the more expensive StarTech PEX1394B3 card, which Avid has explicitly certified in their technical documentation as being compatible with Pro Tools 11.2+ software/hardware and therefore seemed like the most promising alternative with a 1394a port. This card was certified with Pro Tools 10, which has not been compatible with Windows since Windows 8. The StarTech card is not the much-touted TI chipset but operates perfectly fine, whereas this one does not. I do not have any other firewire devices to test with so I can't confirm whether this incompatibility issue is a one-off with just my card, just this type of mixer/interface, with Windows 10, or a larger problem with the chipset.

This card has been flawless since I got it over ...
This card has been flawless since I got it over a year ago.I'm using it with my Pro Tools Digi 002 mixer, which is very finicky as to what firewire cards it works with.

Excellent firewire card
This card works with firewire based musical interfaces such as M-audio Profire, Yamaha 01X and focusrite liquidmix.1 controller chip is on board, so although 2 sockets available users should only plug in 1 full audio interface per controller chip to ensure full bandwidth to the device.A good rule of thumb is to do this to ensure reliable operation on any firewire device, assume your device requires full bandwidth and use 1 device per controller card, no hassles. The sockets on this card are mounted vertically therefore allowing any cable to fit properly.(some card sockets are mounted horizontally, we have had problems getting some fire wire cables to fit on the cheaper cards as the rear pc plates dont allow a fully pushed in cable. This card is excellent in all areas:- it installs flawlessly it is plug and play it has a power supply feed socket so it can power high current devices via firewire connector it has a texas instruments chip to ensure rock solid performance and reliabilityevery firewire lead we have fit it perfectlyit works flawlesslyHighly recommended for music interfaces.Ours is installed on a windows XP SP3 machine interfaced to a yamaha 01X device.
