WMWS were a short-lived English group formed in Spring 1973 by Robert Wyatt, Dave MacRae, Gary Windo and Ron Mathewson (the band's name being the initials of its member), which played only a handful of gigs, of totally improvised music. For one concert in April 14th, 1973, Mathewson wasn't available and Richard Sinclair was asked to stand in for the bass player - this concert was recorded on cassette and eventually released officially in 2015 with the band name becoming WMWS.

Masters of Their Domain
This is the best release I've heard in ages. The Producer the late Mike King, actually made me a personal copy before he died and raved about it. I loved it! And this official release of it is cleaned up even more. Kudos to everyone at Gonzo Media who had a part in its release. This is some of the best playing by these four guys I've ever heard. And though it is mastered from a cassette recording it is pretty damn good audio-wise. I know Mike told me he worked very very hard on this one! RIP my friend, another one of your Masters that is. . .Masterful!! My friend Richard Sinclairs bass playing on this is absolutely fantastic. And Robert and never sounded this good on drums. .

Wyatt's Last Stand
A soundboard-quality live recording, cleaned up by Mike King, with all four members in top form. This is apparently the last recording Wyatt made as a drummer before his accident in 1973, so his mastery of the drum kit is on full display here. (No singing, unfortunately, except for some mouth noises at the beginning.) McRae is on fire, as he always seemed to be, and Windo brings his usual berserker tenor sax to the party. (But he also knows when to be quiet, just as important for improvised music like this.) Richard Sinclair holds down the bass, a little out of his league but providing solid accompaniment. And it was his cassette machine that this was recorded on, so bless him for bringing it along.

quotes of Soft Machine Matching Healths brilliant
Truly amazing wonderful document: Richard Sinclair gets drafted And comes to put his professional cassette tape recorder in the back. Please: If you are a Caravan Soft Machine Egg Hatfield Health Nucleus Matching Gong Wyatt intelligence do not miss out on this. I have explained to other intelligences: God likes this music. Here's proof. Of course nobody flipped the cassette. Happened to me in Rome 1983 live Mike Oldfield with Maddy Prior and who knows who else.

Almost Matching Mole Mk.II
This grouping anticipates the aborted Matching Mole Mk.II lineup which never got off the ground due to Wyatt's accident. The reformed Matching Mole was to include Wyatt, McRae, and Windo with bassist Bill MacCormick from the original Matching Mole.

Blow your socks off
If only there were more recordings available by WMWM / WMWS. They were a great, if short-lived, group. Why doesn't someone issue the BBC session WMWM did years ago?
