Warm, comfortable, supportive, wicks well & blister free
Five stars because that is the maximum allowed as I reach for the sky. Coming back down to earth, I realize that the first thing my feet feel upon landing on solid ground is the soft wooly comfort of my Darn Tough over-the-calf heavyweight hunter socks.Darn Tough socks really are darn tough on the outside world. By contrast, on the inside world inside my shoes, a pair of these Darn Tough socks become a warm & cuddly couple that snuggle & hug my feet, arches, ankles, and calves (keeping them warm, dry, and blister-free).Darn Tough's merino wool wicks well -- wickedly -- all year round, year after year.Of course, nothing lasts forever, with but one exception: Darn Tough socks! They come with a lifetime guarantee: wear 'em out, mail 'em back, get a brand new pair free of charge. All you pay is the postage to mail 'em back. Thus, Darn Tough has a lifetime guarantee that truly is for life. Like a fifty-year marriage that never gets old -- ever!PS: I wear Darn Tough socks every day of my life except February 29, which is a day off for old socks every where, every wear.ARCHIVED REVIEW THAT STILL RINGS TRUE: Darn Tough socks deserve more than the maximum. Much more. These socks are just too good to be true. My own personal experience & my own feet's experience leave me gushing with enthusiasm. O the stories, the beautiful stories, the heart-warming stories, the foot-warming stories that my blister-free feet could tell you – if only they could speak for themselves. If only! It took me four years of walking to wear out my first pair of Darn Tough socks. During those four years, pair after pair of other socks (not Darn Tough) wore out & got tossed out. But not my Darn Toughs. My Darn Toughs hung tough. Yes, Darn Tough socks may SEEM a tad expensive at first blush. But over time, in the long run, Darn Tough socks are extremely economical. They pay for themselves, so to speak, if you calculate the cost PER MILE. In addition, Darn Tough socks give you the incalculable benefits of peace of mind, comfort of feet, and freedom from blisters. Bottom line: My Darn Tough socks gave me more than my money's worth. Much more. As if that were not enough, on top of all of the above, Darn Tough's customer service was more than happy to exchange my four-year-old worn-out pair of socks for a brand-new pair -- without delay! Same quality. Same style. Same color. Same everything. Except brand new. I am a Doubting Thomas by name and by nature. But when it comes to Darn Tough's socks, Darn Tough's lifetime warranty, and Darn Tough's customer service, I am a Doubting Thomas turned die-hard believer. Good product. Good people. Good Everything. It just doesn't get any better.

It's a Darn Tough
This sock is possibly the best over the calf sock I have worn, hands down, when it comes to comfort, warmth, quality, cushioning, fit, softness, and endurance. It still has retained the aforementioned qualities after almost 6 years of heavy usage. Truly a great performer. The merino wool helps it keep odor free for over a couple of weeks even after heavy usage, which helps when you do not have luxury to carry a lot of socks. Honestly, after switching to Darn Tough socks, I usually carry only one pair per week of travel, knowing the odor is not going to brew even after wearing the sock for a week in grueling conditions. And of course it is Mit-USA by Patriots. The only drawback, I would say is that the sock runs a little large.

Great Wool Socks for Winter
I own 4 pairs of these socks now and they are great. Very comfortable and warm during winter. Still thin enough to not feel bulky while wearing in boots during winter.

By far the most comfortable socks I've ever worn
I'm a lineman & prefer over the calf socks when I have to strap on my hooks for climbing a wooden pole. These socks are extremely comfortable & despite being made of wool they keep my feet drier than cotton socks even in warm weather.

They're actually pretty good socks
At 6'9" and 350 lbs it's hard to find anything to fit my legs. These socks actually fit better than most socks. My only complaint would be that they aren't tall enough. There's plenty of room between the toe and the heel of the sock compared to my foot, but it's a few inches too short going over my calf. It slides over the calf initially, but after moving my leg it slips down a couple inches, resting over the thickest part of my calf. Needless to say they're a little sore after a long day on my feet, but if I wear them just to mow the lawn or something, they're actually really comfortable. The thicker fabric cushions my foot in my boots like my compression socks never could.

Pricey, a little, but best socks I’ve ever owned!
These socks fit perfectly, are well padded, super warm in cold climates, comfortable and non-sweaty when it’s warm out. You forget they’re there while at the same time keeping your feet dry, warm and comfortable! I’ve owned super expensive “high tech” merino hunting socks that were more expensive and these Darn Tough padded hunting socks beat those others in every possible way AND have a lifetime warranty. Totally worth the money!

Very warm, breathable, tough!
Great product. Bought these for a 10-day hunting trip in Colorado in October, 2019. So glad that I purchased these socks! The first two nights that we were there, we camped out in the high mountains and the weather turned on us. By morning the temp was 18°F, near blizzard conditions. Luckily I slept with these on, and my feet stayed toasty warm. We hiked all day in the cold and snow for a couple of days, and my feet were not only warm, but extremely comfortable. Best purchase for my feet ever. Warning: These particular socks are thick and VERY warm, so buy them only if you're going to use them in cold weather. I don't think that they're thick enough to cause fitment problems, but if your footwear doesn't have any additional room, you might find that these socks will cause your boots/shoes to be a little tighter. If you want warm weather socks, try another Darn Tough sock. I would imagine that all of their socks are of the same high quality as these. In fact, I'm on line now looking to purchase more for daily wear.

VERY comfortable, cooler than I would think.
These are a bit cooler than I would think.Unfortunately, I've only done three or four winter hikes with them so far. They're very comfortable but I was expecting them to be a bit toastier, once I got Salomon boots though that didn't really matter. The main thing is these are extremely cushioned and comfortable. They SEEM durable, they SEEM very well made, the stitching looks fantastic and is tight. The material is awesome. I can't definitively tell you "this is going to last a lifetime" as the warranty implies, but if they get holes I'll change my review.DO NOT put them down on velcro. Holy crap I didn't realise I had my plate carrier where I put them down and I had to spend 6 hours removing loose threads lol. Shellback velcro WILL win the fight betwixt Velcro and Sock. But the fact that it held up so well was impressive! I only had about 20 some pulled loops and none of the threads broke which implies the thread material that went to make these socks is EXTREMELY tough. They're legitimate too, so I am pretty happy. Still think they are a bit overpriced, but if you need a hiking sock and you NEED comfort then this is something worth the buy. I will probably buy some of the lighter summer socks too, but I wish the ankle socks were at least half the price of these. The brand sure doesn't seem to think half the material should be cheaper for some reason lol.But this pair/style in particular is great. I kinda wish they came in the more wacky patterns this brand usually does.

Nice warm socks!
My feet get cold easy especially when I'm outside, but these socks are perfect. They've kept my feet warm in frigid temperatures, and they fit me really well. I'm a short woman with wide legs, so I bought a guys' size large, and that worked out really well for me.
