Cable dies are AWG! Plenty of power to crimp large lugs. Affordable.

This is what you need if you're crimping heavy gauge cables. The only trick I encountered was that using the 4 AWG dies sometimes didn’t crimp well-enough on 4 AWG cables and terminals. I had to use the next size down. That could have been user error, but I don't understand how I could have done it wrong. I'll still say 5 stars because it is probably user-error, but if not, holy smokes did this thing make the job easy anyway!In addition to a nice selection of dies, the kit comes with what seems to be a pair good quality cutters, a pair of gloves for some reason, and a rebuild kit. Pretty nifty addition there.

The next time I need to use this, I will probably take the time to mount it to a board so that I can lightly clamp the terminal in, then hold the wire into place while pumping the handle and have it stay much more stable.I don't think it was a problem with the crimper, but rather the terminals I was using. When double-crimping a terminal, which had a huge bell after being cramped the first time, it caused a sharp tab to be squeezed out by the jaws. I just ground it off before melting on the shrink-wrap.

First time I’ve used a crimper tool and found this one to be of decent quality for the price. I installed a cable railing and did approximately 25 crimps. This crimper worked well and came with several different sized keys. I used the #4 and it worked perfect for my cable. I would purchase again!

This worked out well and seeing some of the videos, I thought it would take awhile to crimp the 1/8" wire cable I bought on Amazon. But once the knob is turned 'on' and pumped a number of times, it doesn't take long to give it a nice squeeze until the #6 die basically cannot be pressed further.This is NOT a tool if you're crimpling the sleeves to make a loop on the end with the thimble that guards the loop (teardrop shape). You need the crimp tool with a round die surface; not the hex like this tool.Overall, the build quality of this hydraulic tool is excellent. Sure, it's awkward if you need to crimp a larger diameter wire, as I feel the handle is a bit short with less leverage. But, it's also just as awkward if the body was too long and you have to use this say while on the ladder so you have to plan carefully. I'm glad I made this purchase as now, we have not had issues with the cats climbing...YET.

Terrible. Clips missing on handle, handle fell off after used once.
