Finns Thermal Physics 3Ed (Pb 2017)

The content is suitable and fine for most 2-3rd year courses in Thermal Phys/Stat Mech (and was indeed recommended for mine) however I loathe whoever designed the actual book.You can buy plenty of alternatives with far better paper at a larger size. I've only used this as a reference a few times, and when I have it's been fine, but I shudder to imagine the student who actually uses this for study. 5/5 for content, 0/5 for the small format.On another note, 0/5 for pricing. This book is overpriced, and I bought it solely for the purpose of growing my "collection," not for actual use.

This is an updated version of a well loved text by Finn. It is clear and concise, not overly mathematically rigorous, but does require a good knowledge of calculus, as a pre - requisite. It is an ideal general text on the topic for an undergraduate first degree. The author covers each topic in enough detail to gain familiarity and is broad enough to introduce more advanced topics to gain an insight, for example, Statistical Mechanics is introduced. I would fully recommend this text for any under graduate about to start on their studies of Physics or Engineering at first degree level prior to delving deeper into the more academic approaches taken in other texts.
