Does an excellent job take in XLR line and putting out Mic level
While I bought it late Feb, I only just used it this past weekend to interface my MAINS out of the mixer (XLR outputs) to my camera which uses a 3.5mm mic input. The device allows you to tell the unit whether or not the input is MIC or Live level, chose stereo or mono and set the output MIC level for Left and Right Channels. The Headphones worked as well and I could hear the changes nicely that were made at the Mixer side. Remember when connecting to your camera to reduce the mic level for left and right in the camera audio settings when connecting to an external microphone. The video and audio went to my Laptop over a micro HDMI to the CAM4KLINK to USB input to my laptop where I am running OBS. The sound was clean and no hiss or other noise. Only 1 issue. It eats up the 9V battery fairly fast. They need to provide a AC-DC adapter that plugs into the space where the 9V battery goes so one can run it indefinitely. This is especially important for long podcasts/live casts.

Great Design and Layout
Someone put some thought into the design of this Mixer. It's designed to sit on top of a typical DSLR with a Cold Shoe Adapter. It has grooves on the sides and top to accommodate other items one might need in the field, like a camera light or wireless receiver. The inputs into the unit will also accommodate whatever audio situation you might need to record, from XLR, 1/4 Phono to mini-plugs. It is powered by a 9V battery so it can also provide Phantom Power to your mic. This is a very well designed product and I recommend this to anyone who may need a mixer in the field.

must return
Too much noise, when using into 3.5 mmI was getting better audio using xlr to 3.5 mm straight into camera on auto audio.

Coldshoe mount will wobble and fail over time.
Have had a number of these, the coldshoe mount is not secured very well. If it had a second tightening ring, it would be more durable, but eventually it will wobble (sometimes very quickly), and begin to fail. The solution is to buy the SR-PAX 2, which attaches UNDER the camera. If you're like our shop, and have already bought several of the PAX 1, you can remove the mount by putting locking pliers on it and rotating it until it snaps off. Then get a Rock Solid 1/4" Mighty Mount, remove the adhesive, put on Gorilla or VHT tape, and use that to attach to the PAX 1. Then screw on a Shoe Plate adapter. This will add a little height to it, but be a much stronger than the original mount. The original mount really just needs to be expanded for cover more surface area, and it would solve the problem. The box itself is great, Phantom power for XLR mics, XLR connections for existing XLR gear, mini-stereo inputs, monitoring via headphones, and adjustments on the fly. The box does the job very well, but the mount is a sore point. if I could trade them in for the PAX 2, I would in a minute. You can get a PAX 2 refurbished for about the same cost as a PAX 1 new.

Fine for what it does.
Fairly robust piece of gear, with straightforward layout and operation. Key thing to note: THIS IS NOT AN AMPLIFIER. It does provide phantom power to mics that need it, but it does not amplify their signals any further. And considering that is all it does, I don't know why the case is so large.

it has saved countless hours of wasted time by enabling a headphone to be plugged in ...
This product has SUBSTANTIALLY improved the quality of video recordings by creating an outlet that allows multiple mics (and mics with differing inputs) to be plugged in to the camera, with a separate volume control for L and R channel. Just as importantly, it has saved countless hours of wasted time by enabling a headphone to be plugged in along with the multiple mics. This allows us to hear any background noise, hissing from a bad cable, SILENCE because the mic wasn't hooked up correctly, etc... before we start recording instead of finding out post-shoot. A great tool to have in the camera bag!
