Good for Self-Study and Algebra Review
This book is good for reviewing forgotten algebra. It will help to have some experience or faint memory of algebra. There are many problems to solve. Repetition helps you learn the material. There are answers for all problems. This book helped me remember enough math to pass a college math assessment. The $10 I spent was way cheaper than paying for a remedial math course that doesn't count for credit.

Best textbook for studying math
Probably the best math textbook ever written! I bought it for my son (to help him get ready for math in high school) together with other two books. Compare to the others, this is the most logical and understandable by both my teenager and me. It starts from extremely easy problems and gradually progresses to the complicated math concepts. Each lesson starts from explanation of the math rules and formulas, followed by multiple examples covering all possible cases of these formulas uses, and, finally, 1-2 pages of exersizes. Each chapter has a few pages of review problems, covering all lessons within this chapter. There is also very useful insertions of graphic calculator use with step by step instructions and examples. The only problem for me as a parent/summer teacher for my kid is finding the border between algebra 2 and precalculus, since both subjects are studied in two different years in my kid's school.

and could not get a good grasp of algebraic manipulations
My 10th grade son is learning math using this book. I decided to teach him myself because his school district in Minnesota adopted the nonsensical constructivist math curriculum "Everyday Math" years ago and the students are missing basic math skills to do secondary math. We started with the Singapore Math series, but my son was frustrated with the spiral learning technique, and could not get a good grasp of algebraic manipulations. I went on line and found Rong Yang's books and we have been happily advancing in math skills ever since. Mr. Yang's section on logarithms is comprehensive with excellent problem sets.I wish he had a book devoted to geometry and trigonometry. We will be doing those sections next in this book. I hope the coverage of these topics will be equally comprehensive.

Great book
Been studying and using this book to teach my son (Home-Schooled) algebra 2 and it has been great so far he has had an easy time learning and studying with this book and honestly does not need my help much with anything, He can basically self teach himself with this book. In other words the descriptions of how to do certain things are in detail and easy to understand.

One of the Best Algebra/ Precalculus Books Out There
This book, A-Plus Notes for Algebra: Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus, is awesome! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who was interested in the topics or was required to take these courses in high-school and/or college. It covers everything from functions, graphs, and inequalities to limits, vectors, polar coordinates, and even the 1st and 2nd derivative(s) and their applications (instantaneous velocity and acceleration). I would, however, say that you should be on Algebra 2 level, and have a decent knowledge of the sine, cosine, tangent, and some other basic geometry. It even covers conic sections! TOTALLY COOL!!!

Typical Algebra book that's a big headache
Each lesson provides a good intro to the material and most lessons contain a fair number of worked out example problems. This book also assigns lots of varied problems with each assignment which is good. However, like nearly all math books, there are no worked out solutions for the assigned problems and that irks me. Most of the time I can work out the solutions on my own but in the latter half of the book I can't figure out 20-30% of the problems. Instead I waste countless hours busting my brain trying to figure them out and I inevitably fail. The people who have assigned 5 stars to this book obviously have not worked out the lesson problems. To me, it's worthless to have a workbook that does not have complete worked out solutions. Perhaps Mr Yang could have a companion workbook with worked solution to the problems in this book - then I'd give the pair of books an A+. Until then I am tossing this book into the garbage and buying Dummies guide to Algebra 2 with 1001 worked solutions to their problems.
