I have the first three Aira Compact devices, and will probably add the S-1 down the road, but the J-6 and E-4 are amazing, and the T-8 is great to connect in with those two.As others have mentioned the J-6 shines as a way of coming up with new chord progressions. You can set it to play these little arpeggios, and it will only play things in the appropriate scale or key that you are in. There are a bunch of different sounds that come with the J-6, but honestly my favorite part of this thing is bringing into your DAW as a midi controller. I've tested it in ableton, reaper and last night was using it with my Maschine in the Maschine software.Mind blown. I can take some cool sounding lead instrument in maschine, run it through the J-6, and it will start making these arpeggios with the sounds I have in maschine. So it was fun with the 64 sounds that come with it, but then you factor in the 1000's of digital instruments I have on my computer and you have seemingly endless potential for creating new chord progressions.It's pretty much a cure for writers block.

This thing is a hit. So much musical creativity at your fingertips. Holds a very solid USB battery charge, syncs to Ableton flawlessly and has a very solid sound bank of built in sounds to play with. Also extremely beneficial for anyone without classical music training as it plays chords for you in a variety of different styles. Well worth the price point.

These small units are really convenient and super powerful, loads of features!I purchased the S-1 & J-6.This review is for the J-6...There's a little learning curve but after spending some time with it I really like it! The sounds and effects are very impressive, sequencer is fun to experiment with. Arp takes a little while to understand (compared to typical arp functions) but there's lots of inspiration to be found once you mess with it for a while. I like the fact that they generalized the synth parameters on this particular unit. Good idea and keeps you more focused on chords, rhythms and ideas more than synth editing.

I love the way the Aira series sound and work together.The one major problem I have with it is the guaranteed down time.3 or 4 hours on a charge isn't too bad but the problem is you cannot use thedevice while you are charging it. So if I get into a really good groove and thebattery runs down I'm going to be frustrated to suddenly have to stop and waitseveral hours for it to recharge.To make matters worse if you are using all 4 units synched together and thebatteries run down now you have to wait to recharge all 4!!!So the way it appears is if you are working with all 4 synched you are going tohave a 3 or 4 hour session and then you are done for the day because it willlikely take 12 hours or more to recharge all four Airas.Actually I suppose you could recharge all 4 in 3 or 4 hours if you have all fourcharging at once.

If you're making samey-sounding electronic dance music, you might like this. Not for me.I bought a P-6, which I enjoy as a portable creative toy, so I got this to accompany it, but it lacks some very basic features.The instruments all sound like low-quality versions of the Juno synth. The patterns are a nice idea, but it doesn't have enough polyphony to really do anything other than squelchy dance stabs.The real killer for me was there is no song mode. You can't chain patterns together, so if you want to switch to a different pattern, you have to manually turn a knob. I bought this to accompany me while I play another instrument, so that was a deal-breaker for me.I was going to keep it, but a week after I got it the battery just stopped working, so I sent it back.

Very cool little synth! Took a minute to get used to the workflow, but after a couple tutorials I think I have a decent understanding. Sounds great, I've used it live several times, very portable.

Superb Musical Instrument with very sweet sounds. Compitable with DAWs like Abelton live lite and MPC Beats both. Synchronization with other synths works very well.

Lots of chord combinations. Easy to change key. Arpeggiator a little more tricky. Overall, lots of fun.
