Jinhao Black Snake Fountain Pen Medium Nib Retro Style with Skull Head Solid Metal and Paper Pen Case Set

I honestly bought this pen because I liked how it looked. Its not my first fountain pen, but it was my first metal pen. I was immediately surprised by how heavy it is. It's a beef cake.I enjoy how it looks, and it's honestly not uncomfortable to write with despite designed and weight, and I'm not a large man. It's made for posting, the snakes heads even line up, which is a nice attention to detail,but it's waaaay too back heavy to recommend. Though the heads are slightly off when capped, which is slightly annoying, but for the price, who cares.It's still my only bent nib, and it has absolutely no issues keeping up when using it to write monstrous sized letters. It does dry out, so you may get a little hard starts but it does usually come back pretty quickly. I'm also surprised at how smooth it writes. It's honestly my favorite pen to write with so far, and it's fantastic at bring outs shimmer and sheen inks. I think a really flexy nib would be the only thing the could lay more ink. I can't speak for the other nib sizes, but the bent is fantastic. It took me a while to get used to it. But I do have a picture attached that shows line variation. Notebook is a Clairefontaine. My favorite ink to use with it is Diamine Jack Frost because it really brings out the shimmer and sheen.I would absolutely recommend this pen to someone that doesn't mind a heavier pen.

I originally ordered a different pen and when I received it. It was damaged. I wrote them, that same night I had a response. The customer service alone will keep me ordering from this company. After taking care of that. I ordered this pen. I am presently surprised once more. The pen has a nice heavy weight, writes smooth and doesn't skip. This has quickly become my favorite pen. Looks good, writes amazing and it doesn't feel like a cheap piece of plastic. I highly recommend this pen and company.

This is a great fountain pen. The included ink well seems quality made and is able to draw in ink quite easily while being resistant to drying out. During weeks or months with very light use dry out was nearly non-existent which makes maintenance a breeze. Simply wash the nib off with water, dry off and get back to work. The flow overall has been great, I use an affordable Parker Black ink as sort of my daily driver and have tried multiple nibs without any issues. I hand write things sporadically depending on whether it's TTRPG season in my friend groups or not, and have that weird lefty grip, so my experience is of course subjective. Now for the only negative that I've personally had so far. The cap of a pen is normally kept on the rear of the barrel for balance but with this one it becomes fairly top heavy which could become an issue for some. The only way I would not recommend this pen to someone would be if your hand becomes fatigued easily. Other than that this is a great purchase at this price point.

It is a beautiful gothic collectible piece, and it writes just fine as a fountain pen, whether you load ink cartridges or use the converter to fill it with liquid ink from a bottle. It also has substantial weight, which feels good and solid in the hand. Just be sure to wear surgical gloves and spread plenty of paper towels when filling it with ink to avoid ink smudges going everywhere. Also, ink bottles and cartridges are dirt cheap in bulk, so for a low price you never have to run out.

As an inexpensive fountain pen, you get a good deal for the money. It writes. The nib is fine and reasonably smooth. The flow is a little dry, letting it work on all kinds of paper without making a mess. The converter is solid. It's easy to clean. Nice pen.As a statement piece, its weird and beautiful and amazing. The kitch is retro, punk, goth--the apex of biker stoner wizard badass tacky aesthetic. It's so powerful, it influences the way I way I write. I fill it with supersexy dark red ink, the shade of my favorite lipstick, and the dark and naughty notes slide languidly onto the paper.This pen sets a high bar for what you write with it. It doesn't want to cross asparagus off your grocery list. It wants to list the dangerous components of a love spell or directions to that liquor store in Mesquite you're going to rob.I have the similar pen with the cobra finial and together these pens have gotten me in no end of trouble. They are brilliant and wonderful. But know what you're getting into....
