My two kittens were born from ferral cats and we had no clue what they were. On a whim, I ordered these tests and they came quickly, were easy to use and I got results back quickly. It is interesting to see the characteristic traits of each kitten. They pretty much match their personalities. Even though they are from the same litter, they are VERY DIFFERENT kittens. Very impressed with Basepaws.

I know a lot of folks haven’t had as good of an experience, but I knew when we got this wild bundle of ridiculousness that our kitten was different. We named him Floki because the markings on the side of his face reminded us of Floki of Vikings, plus he is wild and playful and odd to say the least. LOL He loves water, carrying things around in his mouth, he loves to be up high and his jump scares are the best. He is all muscle with polka dots on his belly and tiger looking like stripes down his arms. He is a gorgeous cat to look at. This is why I wanted to know more about him.I did not upload a photo of Floki on Basepaws website. I did not want them to have a hint of anything before we got the results back. So after registering the kit and sending it back I got an email on 11/28/23 that his DNA was being sequenced and yesterday 1/01/2023 I got an email saying his DNA results were back. To me that was not that long to wait. Especially with how thorough his DNA report was.Shocked is an understatement. I have nothing but good things to say about Basepaws DNA testing. I know we all want things faster, but it was worth the wait for our family.

As far as I can tell, the results seem reasonable and are probably accurate. My cat was a stray, so I have no knowledge of her background. Results showed some large breeds in her genetics and she is on the larger side of normal (vets often comment on her weight, but she's not fat). Other breeds in her genetics suggested she'd be friendly, loyal, and adventurous and that's all true as well. So although I can't be scientific about it without ordering more tests to compare against, it seems likely to be correct.I wish they would state clearly up front that results can take six weeks or so. I was checking my email and waiting and wondering. If I'd known up front, it would have saved me some worry and some time. But it seems like a good way to get some info (including potential health risks).

I’ve seen these done for dogs and the results are amazing. However, when I got my cat done, it didn’t really divulge a lot of information (that I didn’t already know).I think if you’re looking for basic information with cats this is ‘just okay’ and I don’t think it’s worth the money, and didn’t meet up to the anticipation I had waiting for the results.

Update! I finally heard from customer service. Seems we had a snafu and my email went to their spam. I messaged on the app/website and that got a response, fyi. The response has been absolutely perfect. New test is on its way. Seems the package was lost by usps. Sigh. Other than the lost mail, both electronic and snail, the test was easy to use. Simple to prepare. Excited for results! 📊I adopted the oddest cat and believed he’s at least part Maine Coon. I was eager to see if I could find out with this test. I completed and mailed the kit back 12/22. It’s now over a month later, I’ve emailed 3 times now with not so much as a confirmation as to whether the test is there. Crickets. Im annoyed at the LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE, even though contact info is readily available on the website. Albeit only email.I wouldn’t buy this test again because of this issue. It wasn’t exactly cheap
