A time gone by forever!....except for here.Although sad I couldn't put it down. Would reccommend to anyone who wanted to immerse themselves in the past rural life of old England.

A great book - deservedly a classic
I have only just begun to catch up with Thomas Hardy - for years I"ve avoided much of his work, because I didn't want to cry at the end. But - what a foolish reason to miss a great work like this - it is moving, and it is also a brillinat portrait of life in the countryside now gone for ever.

one of the best!
This is the first time that I have read a Thomas Hardy book. Once I got used to the style of writing, I found the story amazing and am now hooked. I am now seeking out his other titles. Wonderful!

The stars really go to Thomas Hardy, with the undying wonder of his writing. But the audio is a pleasing addition and the arrival on my y kindle was flawless.

Quite a number of spelling mistakes in this version
This version for kindle has a good number of typos in it, little mistakes like 'if' instead of 'it' etc., which can be a bit distracting.
