Military Heavy Duty Grappling Anchor Hook with Nylon Rope Ninja Cadet Bushcraft
Purchase this product to help clear trees that were cut and had fallen down a steep hill in our back yard. Works OK on the smaller branches but rope is not ideal for pulling up heaver trunks. For me it would not be secure enough to climb, rope is too thin to get a good grip. The hooks screw together but need to constantly tightened to prevent coming apart. Items had rust spots when I opened the package. I did not return since I was using for yard maintenance and it would get scratched up anyway.

Friggen Great!
This thing works pretty nice! I've already used it to climb a building and several trees that I wouldn't have been able to without it! More specifics:-Folding mechanism works as intended (very useful for storage and portability)-Size is pretty nice-Claws didn't break or bend after I accidentally (and then purposefully) threw the hook on concrete-Rope can support my weight (about 135lbs)-I'd say the only downside is that the rope is fairly thin (about 1/3"), so if you're planning on using it for climbing (like me) put some thick knots in every 20" or so (they'll stretch out to about every 2') and wear some good gloves that have grip

I fish small rivers a lot and needed something to keep my inflatable kayak where I wanted to be. I hook onto some streamside brush and play out the line until I'm where I want to be. The hook is larger than necessary for this purpose but it works. I'm far too old for grappling and rappelling and can't comment on how it works for those purposes.

Hard, thick, stell claw!
This is a really tough durable grappling hook made of high strength steel. If is collapsible and the rope seems decent too, although who cares. The only short coming was the cap bolt has a chinsey half dome the breaks. Just put a bolt on and spike the treads with a chisel and it will stay put.

It seems solid
It doesn't fold as flat or as easily as I would like and it sits with the points up if that's how it's left. Not sure how long the spring will last. But overall, it feels solid, it stays where you hook it and the rope is sturdy. For our purposes, it will do fine.

Seems very solid, though the fact it depends upon a small acorn nut makes me a little wary. Haven't. Tried it out yet but will in near future and update. For the proce and construction i would reccomend minus the untested concern with the nut.

Swamp hook
Not something I would trust my life with in climbing like a Ninja, but works fine for my purpose, i.e. hauling in logs and limbs from our lake. Rope is adequate length and tensile strength, but cannot be grasped as firmly as a rope of larger diameter. .

Grappling Hooked
This is a jolly good item and has certainly paid for itself already.Recently I decided I needed a new hobby, and took up picking locks using the '20-Piece Lock Pick Set with Transparent Padlock and Credit Card Lock Picking Tool Kit by LockCowboy + Guide for Beginner and Pro Locksmiths'.It really has been fun and I am always surprised by how many different locks the neighbours have, especially when taking into account back doors, garages and sheds. However, as I am always wanting to expand my horizons I wanted to start tackling windows and flats as well as houses, hence my purchase of this fantastic item. The rope allows me unlimited access to the third floor flats in that block by the college, and it isn't very well lit round by the back so it's an ideal training environment after about eleven o'clock at night. It'll be even better when the clocks go back.It also folds down well which makes it suitable to fit in a coat pocket, and being black makes it highly tactical to use when I am out 'practising'.The rope is pretty sturdy too, which comes in handy as I am normally carrying more weight climbing down than climbing up. I don't know how much extra weight it will take, but even when I have filled my pockets with jewellery, silverware and small ornaments it seems to be fit for purpose. It is a bit difficult to master swinging it at first, in order to get enough height to access the top floor flats, and you do have to be careful about missing and smashing a window, but I had a few practice throws at the old vicarage first and soon got the hang of it.I don't know if it would be any good for anchoring a boat or a ferry but it's perfect for expanding my hobby and must have paid for itself after allowing me access to the first flat, so it's a bargain.Actually I should get down the docks and see about getting onto a boat as that will add a bit of variety to my routine. It was also delivered very promptly by a chap who looked just like Tommy Lee Jones and was just as rude.

Suprising quality
Took a while to get here, but I was shocked at the quality. The package made it look cheesy, and I expected a cheesy product. It was bought as a fun present for a child, but it definitely isn't for them. The rope is thick and heavy duty, and could easily hold a grown mans weight (I doubled it over for piece of mind). The hook is solid and heavy, and will hold a lot of weight. Overall, don't be put off with the description of 'ninja', because it isn't a novelty product!

Lots of uses apart from mountains and dams.........
I am well past my James Bond days and have given up using grappling hooks whilst jumping off the top of dams. I actually bought this in order to help with pruning trees and removing tree debris from a stream that runs in a ditch alongside our property. Tied to the back of a lawn tractor, the anchor hook will grab a fallen branch securely enough to tow it out of the way of harm. Thrown up into a low bough, the bough can then be pulled down to a height where it can be cut from ground level. In fact I've found quite a few other uses for this hook - very few, I suspect, anywhere near what the designers envisaged.
