While I love the size, shape and heft of these salt and pepper shakers, unfortunately they aren't very practical. The body of the shaker is made from a very hard plastic which is great. If you drop them they won't shatter like glass and they won't dent either. However, the lid portion is made of a rather BENDY plastic and it comes with the top and the lid separate, so you have to then force the lid into the grooves in the top. Because it is so bendy, it takes brute force and, in my case, the help of a fork tine to pop each end into the grooves. Then when you put the top on the shaker and push on it to lock it in place it bends inwards. It does the same thing when you try to actually close the lid. It bends inwards instead of easily snapping place. So you have to finagle it a bit to finally get it to snap closed. Then opening it takes a bit of strength as well and by the time you open and close it a couple of times you are so annoyed you just sort of close it w/o snapping it all the way on which defeats the purpose of having a moisture-proof lid.If the lid had been made out of similar material to the actual body of the shakers it would have worked much better. Since we don't have a lot of moisture in our house I will go ahead and use these, but I definitely think Tupperware needs to come up with a better design (like maybe a double screw-top lid that you can screw in one direction to open and a different direction to close). This is definitely not something that older people or people with arthritis can easily utilize.

Shakers are sturdy and light weight had a set I just had to throw away after 21 years worth the price

I have had a set of these for years and the lids on both of them broke so I ordered this pair. I am hoping the lids become easier to open and close as they are used more.

My grand mother had the real ones now I have to buy s&p shakers I ended up buying these. They last for ever. Keep humidity out. Will not spill over. Holds a good bit.

Replaced an old set that was the same

Great salt & pepper shakers. Break and spill proof.

Easy to fill. Holds a good amount. Hinged lids took a minute to get seated, but seem to be sturdy.

The hinged lids won't close. Disappointed.
