A happy narrow boat owner's view
We moor our steel narrow boat in a marina that opened in 2018. It's pretty much state of the art and has Wifi all round the site. The Wifi signal comes from transmitters mounted on the lamp posts and in theory, everyone should be able to get a good signal.Unfortunately for us, our pontoon is as far from the two nearest lamp posts as we could get. Until recently, we had an empty mooring next to us and the signal in our boat was good, but two weeks ago a new boat moved in there and since then, the signal has been weak if you stand up, and almost gone if you sit down.As my work phone uses Wifi calling and there's no mobile signal to speak of, I've had several calls from customers that have been abruptly cut off. Clearly this isn't good for business, so I had to get it sorted out. After some research, I decided to try this booster kit, which I mounted on the boat's TV aerial pole, and plugged in to our 240v supply inside (a 12v adaptor is also included), running the cable through a little gap above the bow doors. I may sort out a more permanent arrangement for this later, but as it will be removed whenever we go out on the boat, that's not a priority. You follow the instructions included with the kit, which seem well written and easy to understand. All you need to do is get the site's Wifi password, and come up with (and note down or remember) one of your own, and once they're input, the rest of the set-up is automatic.I'm pleased to say it's worked like a dream. We now have the best Wifi signal we've ever had in the boat, and although it is an expensive bit of kit, I consider it money well spent.I found it very straightforward to set up (and I'm a plumber, not an electronics specialist), and it linked to my phone without issue. Adding another device to the Wifi is simply a matter of locating the new address on the device and putting in the password. It takes only a few seconds. We've now got my wife's laptop on board and that linked to the Wifi perfectly too.My one handy hint. Kuma sell a magnetic base and pole to mount it on which comes as part of another kit (see their website, it's apparently not for sale on Amazon) for just a tenner more than this one. If you want to buy it separately, it's thirty quid, so make sure you buy the right kit in the first place if you'll need it.All in all, this is a really first class piece of equipment and one I have no hesitation in recommending to you.If this has been of help, I'd appreciate a click of the button below. Thank you.

Ignore 'only works with windows 10-8' legend on box!
First, a big thank you to all those who answered my query re whether works with Apple products. Seems to work great with ipad and iphones used. Set up really easy - just follow the very clear easy set up guide and/or the video on their web site. Strong signal in garden studio 100 metres and two thick walls away from broadband router. Would have given it 5 stars if not for:a) That windows legend (I nearly sent everything back, even got return label from Amazon customer service - who were great by the way).b) Too loose usb connection in antenne even when follow the instructions to the letter.c) Disconcerting rattle of loose object rattling away in the antenne. Can recommend so far - is early days, only just set it up and tested it. I just hope nobody in that 1.5km range guesses my password!!

Great Kuma product for my narrowboat
Great product. I needed to be able to achieve good internet speed from a narrow boat in a marina. I’m 200 metres from the marina in a steel boat. Easy to install. All devices can connect at the same time. Pc, phone, online gaming etc and its great. Magnetic pole for outside antenna is great and very sturdy. You get a metal plate and adhesive for the pole to attach to if you’re not attaching to metal.Overall I’m delighted with it and would recommend. You get what you pay for.

Good, but could do better 5 out of 10
Okay, with the benefit of hind sight I write this review, make sure you read it through. You can buy these items individually and it's cheaper. The router is a Solwise 3000 and uses the solwise software, visit their site! The antenna is a 16 dbi directional and is difficult to find better with USB connection, some USA ones look better. The router transmitted a powerful signal I could easily use 100 metres away. The antenna was difficult to tune to obtain best reception. Be warned they specify up to 150 Mb/s but they informed me that 7-10 Mb/s is normally the max achievable on hotspots. The software in the router is comprehensive but has shortfalls, it shows the received signal strength and quality numbers, but only updated every 10 seconds or so making antenna positioning difficult, I had to continually screen refresh to get an instant update. Other UK hotspot routers provide the signal strength and quality in graph form which is much more user friendly when positioning the antenna. I boost you not!The manual provided is only a starters guide and was helpful and easy to use for first time setup but subsequently was useless.I use this router as any home router and leave it Powered 24/7 after 2 days I noticed the download speed decaying and after 7 days practically zero. Initially I did factory default red button resets (not in the manual) to rectify, but eventually found a System Free Memory section that was diminishing with time and a Reboot Now facility in the software which I now do Daily and don't loose all my settings. All of this I learnt through trial and error and was even told by the kuma helpline that the router didn't have a cache or memory to fill and cause the problems.Although they did their best to help and even sent me a replacement router they get a 5 star for effort but a 2 star for knowledge. Solwise need to update their software and then this unit will be a 5 star.Read solwise web site technical bulletins they are very helpful.Hope you found this helpful, I wish I had read this before buying.Okay two updates in the last two years since first writing this review.1 Solwise has now a newer version of the 3000 available, I think it is a 3000A, not tried it yet.2 The solwise patriot omnidirectional antenna is far better than the kuma directional one. The 9dbi version is better than the 12dbi directional. Read my review on that antenna. I intend buying the 12dbi patriot this year and expect excellent performance.

Strange product
I could go on but I won't. The brand is not Kuma but Wavlink. Disappointed in the product. It's relatively easy to setup although sometimes you have to keep turning on and off for the green signal bars to engage. It could do a better job of grading the wifi signals available perhaps. The 5ghz wont work for me.
