It worked well. In this instance was used for a crossbow. - I was able to, without cocking it, slide a bolt/arrow in, under the bow string which held it down tight into the groove. No need to cock it, it was firmly aligned if even only had half the bolt on the rails. So, it made quick work to get a reasonable alignment of that "bore", bolt/arrow and the Sight. Of course the Sight will have to be above that for bolt/arrow drop/arch. - One slight negative was, one set of batteries (needs 3) went dead quick - like 15 minutes or so (no on/off button). With no on/off button have to leave it on and know what you are doing. I think I read those batteries would run this for a good length of time - not even close. So, I guess that's why the second set, which I needed. So, have more batts on hand or be able to do it in 20 mins or so pending that batts they give.For the price point I paid - I can recommend it. Otherwise, if much more costly then I'd have used any pointer with a straight cylinder or even a typical bore laser (which I have already) then taped to the top of an arrow/bolt. Again, no matter what, one will need to adjust for the bolts arch and fall. If align it dead on, and not a "flat shooting object" - you'll shoot a few inches low until you do, but be "on the paper", etc.Me, I'll be checking at 15 yards, then 20, and etc.
