EXCELLENT Shave Cream!
Pre de Provence Shave Cream provides excellent lubrication using a miniscule amount. The fragrance is very unique and refreshing, while not overbearing. It won't conflict with your after shave or cologne, and won't slap someone in the face three stories up when you walk into the building. This is far and away the absolute Best shaving lubricant that I've ever used (and I've been shaving for 36 years). BE ADVISED: If you require a shaving solution that lathers, LOOK ELSEWHERE! This One Will Not. Period. Pre de Provence also makes shaving soap. It will lather, but it's a completely different product. They also make a shaving balm. Most of us willing to spend 10 to 20 bucks for a tube a shaving stuff have enough experience to know not to try it with that one. I can use one that foams or lathers but prefer a thin layer so as to better see exactly what I'm doing. Need foam or lather? This product is a Cream (like it says on the box and tube) and not for you. Just need a lubricant? Try this one. Like me, you'll probably find it to be the best.

Retire your brush and shave mug
When Pre de Provence stopped offering their shave soap in a disk that would fit in standard shaving soap mugs, I bought as much as I could find. I only used this more expensive cream when traveling. I still have a supply of their great shave soap, but I often enjoy this cream when I don't want to mess with a brush. I have tried lots of other premium shave creams, but this is my favorite. I use four small dabs of about an 1/8" each for each side of my face and neck. This cream is a lot thicker than others; so you can simply use your fingers to spread a small amount evenly on your dampened skin. Their After Shave Balm is also a treat. Note: This metal tube is no longer easy to travel with. You will need to squeeze some into a small TSA approved container.

an Unusable mistake
Normally I use this brand as my shave balm, but a few quick clicks without reading and this shows up. Okay, fine, my mistake. Besides, I am always eager to try a new shave soap. Except. . . I don't know if this is soap? No amount of effort with my best badger hair brush would make a usable lather from this product. A lot of water? No. A tiny bit of water? No. Just the brush wet? No. Maybe it's the Shea Butter? (I've never had a shea butter product that would lather) Long story short, just don't buy this. I don't know how they created their formulation for this . . . .stuff. But now I have forearms that look like Popeye's and I still just have this curds & whey looking mess in my soap bowl.

Fresh and soothing.
Fresh woodsy fragrance that lasts long enough. No alcohol. No cloying sweet smell and the Shea butter is soothing. Men in my family use double-edge razors and they like products from Pre de Provence. This is my third tube and it is my favorite after-shave and I've tried a lot of them. You don't want your after shave to attract attention in the elevator and this one won't. A sophistited French product with a fresh, clean smell. Nothing else like it.

Great Shave but NO Lather from Shave Cream
I was looking for a brushless cream to put in my bag so that I didn't have to bring a brush to the gym. I did a little research and understood that this cream did not provide much lather. But everyone should know that you don't get even the tiniest bit of bubbling from this product. This doesn't mean that it doesn't work. You just have to be more observant about where you've already made a pass on your face. It's fairly slick if you have enough water and it offers a very nice post-shave feel from the shea butter.I find myself using a fair amount of the product since I have to reapply it for each pass. I would use it again, but I may check out other brushless creams when I'm through with this tube to see if there's one I like better.

All the performance and scent of their great soap in a cream!
Anyone who has used their shave soap knows what a quality product they put out. I bought this because I wanted that same great performance and scent in a cream. It does not disappoint! Great product and I highly recommend this to anyone who is a wet shaver who would rather use a cream. GREAT PRODUCT!!

... Provence after shave balm for several years now and love it, but had not tried their shaving cream
I’ve used the Pre de Provence after shave balm for several years now and love it, but had not tried their shaving cream. I picked up a tube of this and the No. 63. The box claims it is a rich, lathering cream, but unfortunately it is neither of those. There is no lather at all even after a minute of working it in the scuttle. While the scent of both the regular and No. 63 are very nice, it took at least a quarter-sized dollop with my badger brush and scuttle to generate anything usable that would stay on the brush and transfer to my face. A little more water in an effort to generate lather and it became a runny mess. Once I found the right consistency it seemed more like a soap, or perhaps a brushless cream that will coat the brush and face with a semi-thick film. Ironically it seems to shave OK once you have that proper film, but I did not find it to be nearly as pleasant, slick, or protective as the mid-higher end creams. Also, I found if any cream remained on my face after each pass, if I did not clear it right away and it dried a little, it became like thick white lithium grease in consistency which would smear, but not come off unless I washed it off my face with soap.As I said before I absolutely love their after shave balms, but their creams leave much to be desired. I don’t know if they had some bad runs, or if it’s just a bad formula, but it is the complete opposite of their description on the box. Sadly, I will not purchase these again, and I cannot recommend them.

Overpriced and poor quality
the shaving cream is almost without perfume odor. foaming that is expected with shaving cream is also not there. Soap is also quite hard and difficult to be squeezed from tube. Definitely not the type I prefer
