Color Your Own Great Paintings by Women Artists (Dover Art Masterpieces To Color)

I bought several of these type of coloring books my BF's kids who are home schooled. (ages 7 & 11, boy and a girl). Its a great way for kids to learn about famous artists and recreate one of their paintings. The kids seem to really like it. We either are learning about an artist or painting and can use the coloring book copy to recreate their own or the kids can choose their own and read up a little about the painting and the artist they chose. It's pretty great! We actually use the book itself as a master copy; when the kids choose a painting from the book they then will take it to the copy machine and color their copy by trying different media (crayon, colored pencils, pastels, water color pencils...)and that way the kids can try and use the same painting over if they want to . Overall we like these coloring book paintings but marked it down a star because some of the paintings have more dark lines and shading than some would like for a coloring book; making it sometimes difficult to color the whole painting. It can also be very therapeutic for adults too.

I purchased this to add to my library - for Art History. I wanted to learn more about women artist and their works. If I so choose I may colour them in one day.

Our daughter is five years old and she LOVES to color. We are also fortunate enough that we have an AMAZING art museum in our city. So many of the artists featured in this book, she has seen their work. She loves the detail with which she can color and make each of the pages look just like the painting!Only reason I didn't give this a full five stars: I wish they had a tear-out page with the paintings on them. That way our daughter wouldn't have to flip back and forth to check the colors.Still an amazing book and a great buy!

Promised hours of enjoyable activities. A bit too many lines for me. I'd prefer si.post outlines. But that's ppl (purely personal preference)

Thought this was a great, inspirational coloring book for a young aspiring artist. And when I say young, I mean six years old. I wanted to start teaching her early about some of the artists featured in this book. She loved it. However, before gifting it, I did have to tear out some pages so that she didn't begin talking about nude women in school. If the pages weren't printed back and front it would have been better, since I lost a few good pictures to these torn-out pages.

My 9 yr old niece loves this coloring book. Thanks to A Might Girl for recommending. I was Frida for Halloween so she was intrigued by the pictures and we were able to talk about this amazing woman in the artist community. I will be buying this as a gift for a few adults who are big Frida fans.

I want my niece to grow into a fierce and strong woman. I want her to know they is possible to do anything in life, but that many opponents will try their hardest to stop her. While this is just a coloring book, it is important to recognize that any exposure to empowerment is a revolutionary act. There are a diverse group of women in the coloring book: scientists, artists, etc.I highly recommend this for anyone really. :)

This is an awesome gift for anyone who's an artist, especially if they are a big admirer of women and art by women. Even though the front cover shows Frida Kahlo, this book has 30 images with a great selection of styles from different female artists. Color this book with traditional methods, or scan it and use it to practice your computer colouring. The paper is not crazy thick, but for this price, I feel it's merited and would still reccommend this product.

Choices are really good. Really bad that every page has a drawing on both sides Forced to photocopy because of this flaw.
