John Thompson's Modern Course for the Piano - Second Grade: Perfect for Beginners Who Began with Teaching Little Fingers! - Piano Instruction Book for Younger Students

This is the classic piano book I took lessons from as a child. I ordered this as a replacement copy and it arrived in perfect condition. I appreciate that the book is a balance of truly classical pieces yet tied to skill development. Working through it sequentially as a pianist improves skill and technique, but the songs are also those you'll want to come back to time and again. It gives fairly new musicians the opportunity to play music that others will recognize and learn to master skills at the same time.

Great for older person going back to playing the piano. Just as I remember it from my lessons many years ago!

This is an updated version of the ones that were on all my friends' pianos when I was a kid. I taught myself some songs over the years, but had hit a wall.Using this book is fun, and I now feel for kids forced to practice!I have to force myself to practice, my mom is gone, and it's made for some new self-discipline!The book is perfect for beginners, the songs are melodious, and it looks very retro sitting on my piano.

Almost every piano student uses these books! I did when I studied piano years ago and my kids are using it now (newer print of course).

Using it to bring all the memories I had as a child learning to play piano

Rather old-fashioned in tone (and the lyrics accompanying some of the songs are about three generations out of date - but that doesn't matter because the course work and pedagogy is subtle and quite brilliant in its thoughtfulness and structure. I have a selection of much more modern (and competent) 'tutors' for adults as first-time students of the piano, and I think Thompson comes out ahead.

This is the method I learned piano on. I bought this for my granddaughter. The songs are a good variety, but accurate for the student level.

Love the John Thompson books. I was missing this book in the series, so was very glad to get this one.

Assim, é possível ler as partituras e ouvir o som estéreo (piano + acompanhamento) ou apenas o piano isolado (canal direito) ou só o acompanhamento (canal esquerdo). Podemos usar o áudio do canal esquerdo, tocar o piano e treinar acompanhamento com outros instrumentos. Achei genial e muito útil. Recomendo a compra!Gostei muito!

J Thompson's has been around for decades and 'have not found any that equalled these volumes. Best guide in learning the piano, especially in being introduced to the rudiments of music and technique in piano playing.
