Princess Diana: A Life from Beginning to End (Biographies of British Royalty)

A Very Short Life
Diana's insecurity stemmed from the death of the Spencer's third child, a boy. When she was born, the couple was hoping for a son to replace the one who died soon after birth. Later, the couple did have a son, Charles. However, at six years of age, Diana's parents separated. By the time of the divorce, John Spencer got the children because Frances (their mother) married her lover one month after the divorce was finalized. The tumult affected the children, but Diana went to boarding school at nine. Eventually, John Spencer remarried; the new wife was not popular with the children. The rumor that Harry was James Hewitt's son was squashed by the timeline given in this book. Otherwise, there wasn't much info that wasn't already widely known. I would have thought that Charles' poor treatment of Diana and long-term affair with Camilla would have prevented him from rising to the position of king. Dodi Fayed's father's claims were not mentioned in this story. This retelling seemed to be average.

...competent ...
Encompasses her - relatively - brief life competently - but there is nothing really new revealed - perhaps there IS nothing new TO reveal?A touch difficult to track time frames here and there with a lack of dates. No reference to Dodi Fayed's father insisting that Diana and his son were murdered.

Insight into a Princess…
A true princess. Diana’s, albeit brief, life’s is well described in this Hourly History. I’m certain the writer could have included so much more, but from this rendering we learn a great deal.Beautiful lady whose life was not all about a fairytale but of human tragedy snd the ability to bounce back.As Sir Elton John wrote her life was like “a candle in the wind”.

My Princess Diana
So many good things she did. I know she will always be remembered. One thing is for sure she loved her children more than ever. I really enjoyed this biography.Sincerely, C. Stillman

I ws disappointed with this book. The writing style was muddy and not up to Hourly Histoty's usual high standards. I did not learn anything new, which is unusual with Hourly History boojs. The authir seemed to whitewash her life and in my opinion did a very shallow job.

pass
Maybe I’m too much of a fan of princess Diana but this book in my opinion does not reflect the person and all the good she brought into the world via charity. It made it seem like all her volunteer work was efforts for self praise and so people would favor her after her failing marriage. It’s almost like someone who did not like her wrote this book and I could read right through the bias nature.

Brief but concise
This is a very brief history of Diana Princess of Wales & it probably won’t tell you anything you don’t already know or couldn’t find out online but it was concise and free. Obviously written by an American because of the language used eg Fall for Autumn.

Don’t bother, if I could give zero stars I would.
From the first page it comes across as poorly written with no real substance, when I got to the part about Lady Diana moving into Clarence House after her engagement (true) I realised the writer and publisher hadn’t fact checked the contents. It states she moved in with her mother in law (wrong). Everyone knows Her Majesty’s lived in Buckingham Palace and that it was the Queen Mother who lived at Clarence House. At this point I deleted this ridiculous attempt of literature, thankfully it was free so no loss there.
