Fantastic Pack, Useless Mesh Side Pockets
This pack is a great upgrade to the excellent 40L Ajna in many ways - better buckles, smarter internal pockets and dividers, better external bungee strap system for picks and poles, better zippers, lighter "DuraDiamond" material, and more. The Gatekeeper strap attachment points provide incredible versatility and expandability. However, for my purposes as a day hiker/photographer, one major weakness of all f-stop Mountain Series bags is that the features have not made them very good trail bags, meaning they seemed designed to zip up a lot of gear, lug it comfortably and well-protected from point A to point B, then unpack and shoot. There are no trail features like hip belt pockets or side mesh pockets for ready access to on-the-go hydration, snacks and trail supplies. I was thrilled to see with the DuraDiamond update that f-stop had at last added side mesh pockets for water bottles and other quick access items, but I was just as let down to find the mesh pockets to be so wide and shallow as to be just short of useless. My Hydro Flask in the mesh pocket will flop forward and backward while hiking and will readily slip out and smack the ground EVERY time I try to lay the bag down. VERY frustrating. How could such a fundamental feature for any outdoor pack be so poorly executed? The similar Loka UL from f-stop has side mesh pockets that are about one inch narrower and one inch deeper allowing a Hydro Flask and many other types and sizes of water bottles to be carried much more securely. Beats me why f-stop didn't at least match -- if not improve upon -- the Loka UL mesh pocket design. An unforced error of a most basic feature that blemishes what could be an absolute category killer for outdoor photography packs.

Horrible fit for taller people
I was really excited about this bag, but it flat out did not fit. I am 6'3" with a maybe longer than usual torso, and I ended up maxing out the shoulder straps and it still felt like all the weight was on my shoulders. I could not achieve a good fit at all. The materials seem good, but the zippers are a little annoying to work with.I ended up going to a Shimoda Explore V2 35L and found it to be one of the most comfortable bags I've used! Highly recommend a look.
