If I were to make a comparison, celebrity fragrances are normally the Mariana Trench of perfumery. You just don't know what to expect there. The celebrity factor influences you, just like the depths of the ocean feels interesting. Also, no matter how long the scent stands: it would surely be a surprise since you do not know what to expect. Here is the complete note breakdown which isn't in the product description. The top notes of this one are bergamot, pink pepper and clary sage. Middle notes; ambroxan, akigalawood, Indonesian patchouli leaf, cacao pod while the base notes are Haitian vetiver and leather. Perfume concentration is Eau de Parfum. The reason I wanted to buy this perfume is its rarity. Despite being a celebrity fragrance, this has not yet made its mark in Fragrantica. Even perfume enthusiasts who try every niche, designer and celebrity fragrance - did not have this one. Now, I do get what they were trying to make, as a brand. At the end of the day, cost cutting is all everyone wants. Here we have an EDP, and it has to compete with deodorant at atrociously low prices. If someone has only smelled 90s and 2000s deodorants in India - they would consider this their next go-to scent, given its quantity and oil concentration. However, the fragrance market in India is changing. It is no more easy to make a difference. We are getting clones of Paco Rabanne and Dior at Rs 250. Titan, with its Skinn brand of perfumes are on a rampage - with their Raw and Steele versions in the Rs 1000 to Rs 2000 range.Plus, they wanted to get hold of the scent profile of Viktor and Rolf Spicebomb. If you don't believe me, do check the notes once again. A lot of similarity there! They used the same bergamot and pink pepper to provide a citric blast. Same vetiver base. However, there are certain constraints as mentioned above.About the review?I am a lenient reviewer and I do not go out of the way to feel bad about a product and write worse. There are open and straight up critics / naysayers but then, it's their hill to die on. I checked the reviews of this perfume on Instagram and Facebook. Even on Amazon. There were none and hence, I believe a nuanced review with lots of words are needed. The whiff of this fragrance is... confusing. Well, thats how I can put it. I couldn't feel the smell of the perfume even as I brought the atomizer close to my nose. I could only feel it after having sprayed on my wrist and boy, this scent turns out to be an pink pepper and denatured Ethyl alcohol bomb. The opening tends to be quite off putting and synthetic. By synthetic, I would say - almost a scented nail polish remover. However, the pleasant experience arrives after a couple of minutes or so as the smell of patchouli leaves and vetiver surfaces. These are the things which gives rise to a smoky scent and hence, its name "Coal". Longevity of this scent is close to three / four hours on body and is good for the winters.Lowering the ambroxan and alcohol, as well as increasing the floral elements in next is the way to go for next batch, onwards - for this scent. Probably add some lavender or jasmine. Cost doesn't matter if you offer higher quality.P.s. Full marks for the presentation and bottling, though! That one, is spot on!
