Vertical Aid: Essential Wilderness Medicine for Climbers, Trekkers, and Mountaineers

Excellent resource for mountain travelers.
Finished reading Vertical Aid after loading it on Kindle. Its awesome. By far the most updated medical information related to mountain travel. I especially loved the section discussing a critical thinking approach to spinal injury. The tick information was wonderfully timely as I have pulled 6 off of me this season already. The mention of Hans Kraus was a treat as he is one of lesser known heroes of early climbing and medicine. I could go on and on about the quality of this book. I began downloading ebooks a few years ago because my love for books overwhelmed my shelf space. Vertical Aid however is one that I will be ordering a hard copy of today. Great work Vertical Medicine Resources!

Super useful. While there are a number of books that discuss climbing injuries, this is the best of the bunch. It covers overuse injuries really well. The other thing that stands out is that this is written specifically for climbers and focuses on things like pulley injuries and ankle breaks. It also has a pretty detailed section on skin problems like split tips/worn tips and a section on common illnesses in Nepal, the Andes, how to call for a helicopter, etc. Though I have the print copy, I may buy a kindle copy to keep on my phone and take with me to the crag.
