A Top-Noth Everyday Watch
I like a watch that has a clean look. Time, day, and date are all that I use on a regular basis, so I really don't need a compass, altimeter, or a display of the moon phases. I have a compass and an altimeter, and I can see the moon at night. And I have a separate stopwatch. What I want for everyday use is a good-looking watch that's easy to read, keeps good time, and can stand up to regular wear and tear. This watch meets or exceeds my desires. It's quite attractive, gives me what I want clearly, and keeps excellent time. As to specific aspects:Size - As a few reviewers have noted, it's fairly large, but not obnoxiously so. I don't have a large wrist, and it fits me just fine.Band - Some have complained that the band they got wasn't 22mm, but mine is, and I find it to be of good quality and attractive. I did get a second band for some variety, but this one is quite good.Day and date - White letters and numbers against a black background require a closer look, but makes the watch face more consistent in color. It's a price I'm willing to pay; I usually know whether it's Tuesday or Wednesday, and don't need the date all that often.Construction and durability - It's made with high-end materials, so I expect that it will hold up over time, without a lot of scratches etc. So far, it still looks brand new. I haven't worn it while doing engine repair, but for everyday use it hasn't disappointed.Overall, it's not a dress watch, but it is a watch that I'll happily wear anywhere else.

Very reliable time piece
This is a very good everyday watch. It keeps very accurate time. The date window is too small for my eyes but it does not bother me.The band is very easy to resize to fit my wrist snugly. The sapphire face is very good at resisting scratches. I have had this watch over one year and subjected to a lot of abrasive conditions and the face held up well. The band is light but it gets scratched easily but it can be buffed out if needed. Overall just a beautiful, well priced wrist watch that’s very accurate and reliable.

Eco-Drive Is Great!
Citizen makes beautiful watches, powered by light, that last for years and years. We have four Citizen watches in our family and the oldest is over 40 and keeps perfect time. This is the Garrison model with a green bezel, sapphire crystal and genuine leather watch band. It was easy to set, but I needed a magnifying glass in addition to my glasses to set the day and date! There’s lots of room for improvement on the size of those letters and numbers, but this is a gorgeous piece no matter what. Plain, simple, yet elegant.

A Good Watch With One Major Issue
This is my detailed review of Citizen BM8560-53E after a full year of wearing the watch. I bought this watch for wearing and not for a collection, and it has been my daily driver since I bought it.The watch has a black dial and the case has a brushed metal finish. It is water resistant to 100 meters. Both the case and bracelet of the watch are built out of titanium, making the watch very light weight. The watch has a diameter of 42.2 mm, 48.5 mm lug-to-lug, 10.2 mm thickness and 22 mm lug width. The watch face has a sapphire crystal, making it extremely scratch resistant. The back is solid metal without any citizen logo. This is an Eco-drive watch and is powered by everyday light. Citizen recommends to let the watch get few hours of direct sunlight every month in order for it to function in peak condition.Inside the watch is the Miyota/Citizen E101 movement. This movement has been around since at least 2009, and is a very reliable movement. The movement does not contain any jewels. Nonetheless, the movement is very accurate, and is only off a few seconds per month. I set this watch timed to the second with my computer’s clock, and after three months, it was only off by 13 seconds! The dial face is uncluttered and very easy to read. The numerals are Arabic and the hands are big and thicker than usual, but they look perfectly fine on this watch. All one has to do is to glance at the watch to see the time. Majority of watches nowadays have so cluttered dial faces, with sub dials and whatnots that it is almost impossible to tell the time without having to stare at the watch for a few seconds to locate the hands. This watch does not suffer from this issue. The day/date window is small, and the white text on black background is hard to read, but I am fine with it, as I do not use it, and have not even set the day/date after the first day. The numerals and the hands are lumed and glow in the dark for a few hours. The titanium bracelet on this watch is nice and coated to make it scratch resistant. The clasp is sturdy with push buttons so it will not come undone by accident. Unfortunately, the bracelet only has full size links, no half links, and only one micro adjustment. Fortunately, the bracelet is removable, and one can use any third party 22 mm watch band to get a good sizing. This is what I had to do to get a proper fitting, but it does sort of defeat the purpose of buying a watch with a titanium bracelet in the first place. The bracelet uses the “pin and center locking tube” method to hold the links, so be careful during band sizing, as the center tube is very easy to lose. The brushed metal case on the watch looks cheap, and has sharp edges. If one just looks at this watch without knowing anything about it, it looks more like a cheap $40-50 watch, rather than a $400 watch. The good thing is that you do not feel the sharp edges during wear and the watch is very comfortable on the wrist. The watch does have a major issue. The crown on this watch is not screw down, and has no crown guards. They also made it unnecessarily big and grippy for some reason, so it catches on rough materials and pulls out. For example, I have a jeans pant with front pockets. Every time I put my hand in the pocket and pull out, the rough denim pulls the crown out and the watch stops. I had this happen a few times the first month I wore the watch. Good thing is that it does not happen with any of my dress pants or khakis, or any jacket or coat pockets. Also, since now that I am aware of the issue, I take care while putting my hand in pockets to ensure that the watch does not go inside. Changing the bracelet with a nylon strap also helped as the watch now stays on my wrist and does not slide down. But I just do not understand the reason for putting such a big grippy crown on this watch, as you do not need to wind the watch using the crown. The large crown is there just to give the watch a sporty look and nothing else. This is a big negative and I almost returned the watch as a result. The watch comes with a 5-year warranty if bought in US, plus one additional year if you register the watch on Citizen’s website. But if you read the fine print on citizen’s website, the warranty only covers the watch movement and nothing else. Furthermore, the warranty after 3 years is only valid if you have the watch serviced by an authorized citizen dealer. Thus, the effective warranty is only for 3 years and only covers for the watch movement, nothing else. So be careful when comparing warranties with other watches. For example, Seiko’s US warranty is far superior during the first 3 years.I will give this watch a 3.5 out of 5. Rounded up to 4 out of 5 only if you can get this watch for around $250, as I did; because even with its failings, it is still a solid titanium Eco-drive watch with a sapphire crystal and keeps accurate time. I do not recommend buying this watch for any amount higher, or at the MSRP, as it is not worth it.

trying to like it
Much better than I expected. It's very light weight, well made, for me it's perfect. The day/date is a little hard to see but it's not a big deal to me. It has a nice subdued gray color that's perfect. Very happy with it.3 month update...I completely loved the watch when I first received it. After wearing it for 3 months, one significant problem keeps happening. The crown should screw down. It is large enough to catch on clothing, then pulls out enough to stop the watch. Several times I have found the watch to be half hour slow or more, because the crown pulled out and stopped the watch. It is a shame, it could really be one of the best watches I have ever owned, but due to that problem, I may end up getting rid of it.
