Q: What to spray on to protect the letters from scratching ?

I didn’t spray anything and it faded terribly, they did send a new one so I’ll have to figure that out

Q: are the letters painted on or is it engraved ?

The plaque is beautiful! The description says it is "craved permanently on the granite." So, I'm assuming it is not painted on. It is a beautiful plaque. I designed it and had it mailed to my sister who then placed at my other sister's grave. She said it appeared to be engraved. Great buy!
