Steal This Book (50th Anniversary Edition)

After watching the Chicago 7 about the trial that involved Abby Hoffman, I was impressed with his movie character enough to buy this book. Thinking he might have some profound insights into social philosophy I bought this book only to have my opinion of Mr. Hoffman plummet after being exposed to his extremely impractical and socially irresponsible 'so called' solution for corporate greed. Only a truly clueless low-life would embrace the idea that stealing everything and anything you can is the solution to anything, much less society ills.What the author seems to have clearly missed is the fact that society would crumble into chaos and America would soon be ripe for foreign takeover should its people embrace the behaviors promoted in this book. Sabotaging a system you don't like without replacing it with something better is pure ignorance of the fact that often something bad can be replaced with something worse if what is best for the whole isn't considered.

I first bought a copy of this book back in the 80's, and it was an interesting peek into the counterculture of the late 60's/early 70's.My copy was dogeared and worn, and I thought to replace it with a newer edition.Although no condition was really guaranteed, I wasn't really expecting the last 30 pages of the book to have been slashed through with a razor.Although this doesn't detract from the content of the book, it is more than a little disappointing.

The perfect book for the modern liberal radical.

I was exceptionally happy with this copy of "Steal This Book". It arrived in very good condition and was shipped quickly. The seller packaged it carefully, and I could detect no damage, whatsoever. I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable price and felt that it was beyond fair. I am a Hoffman fan from way back, so am glad I was able to find this book at this price and in such great shape.

I read this book in college and living in Portland Oregon, I had the chance to see the infamous, "Chicago Seven", Abbie Hoffman was intense, focused on the cause, brilliant, handsome in the 70's hippy way :) And he stood up to the injustices in this country, I loved listening to him and still love him, I wish he could be reborn, we need him !!!

A classic! This is a MUST BUY for any budding young activist! I got copies of this for my niece and nephew - a rite of passage of sorts!

It truly is a great read. It got a few laughs out of me as well. Abbie Hoffman is one of my idols. RIP to a legend.

useless information wont get you anywhere might have been somewhat helpful in the 70's but definately should have stolen this one

Bought this for my father. He originally read it back in the day. Lots of cool ideas n stories in the book but remember this was written back in the 60s most does not apply today
