I own the other models of this light and like ten. The only way I can describe this one is "just stupid" when it comes to switching. There are three of us in the house and not one person could turn the light on. The same switch controls SIX different functions without an indicator to know whether you are on the second push to turn lock the light (or unlock) or about to dim or turn the light on etc.. Why does a camping/emergency light need a lock in the first place. In an emergency of any kind or a guest in the house in the dark how would you figure any of this out.This is technology fallen into belly button self-fascination.I suggest you find a light with an off/on switch that a child could figure out.

I bought this lamp to replace the original model Apollo, which lasted me several years.Compared to the original Apollo lantern, this new model is:- lighter- brighter- remembers dimming setting and adds additional strobe feature and lock (using the same button)- has no moving parts (other than the legs and hook)- has most of the body acting as a diffuser, providing better area light distribution- has a rechargeable battery. I haven’t tested how long it lasts, but you have the option to add AA supplementary batteries. You can also recharge a phone or other device with USB cable- has rubberized areas to protect the internals from moisture.Overall, a great upgrade to the previous Apollo lamp, albeit a bit pricey for a lamp if compared to hardware store options.

While expensive, this lantern is very well made. I've used it twice while camping now and have no gripes. It is very bright and the hooks to hang it overlap, preventing any potential of falling when hung. It stands up nicely using the built in stand. I really like the fact it uses an internal rechargeable and removable AA batteries. When the internal battery runs out, it automatically switches to the AA batteries. Never burned through both, but if I did, I could change the AA batteries for hours more light.

This is a BIG upgrade over my cheap coleman mini lantern. It has an amazing design - fits in your hand and bright with a clever dual hook on top so you can easily attach it. It is bright but not a replacement for a full size lantern if you're family camping, so have realistic expectations (I thought it would be a little brighter). The internal rechargeable battery is great as well as the ability to charge a phone but the capacity is so-so and you'll want to add some batteries for sure.

I wanted a portable led lantern for power outages and outdoor adventures. The Black Diamond Apollo does the trick. Quality construction with rubber covers for the usb and smart cable connection. I especially like that it comes with an integrated lithium battery and holds three aa batteries for additional power. Nice bright led light too. In addition, I like the two hanging clips and adjustable feet.

Completely disappointed - opened package, installed batteries - lamp light will not turn on. Indicator lights go on but no light. Double checked battery installation - lamp does not turn on. Tried pressing button again and something clicked but now the battery indicator lights do not even turn on. Top rated lantern does not work. I do not mind paying a premium for good equipment. But not working right out of the box is a sign I should return the item and look for something that woks. If I could give no stars to rate this item I would!

Friends brought one to the camping and we fell in love with it. Got ourselves one, it is very bright, easy to carry, lightweight. The cute legs make it a great table lantern and can also hang at any places. We also use it as a closet light lol.

I have no idea why this lantern has high ratings. It arrives uncharged and for me, that was during a power outage. How am I supposed to charge the lithium ion battery if I don’t have power...which is the WHOLE reason I needed the lantern. The lift fro. The regular batteries is so dim that it’s worthless. So...when power came back on, I charged it. The light is still so dim that it’s worthless. Oh...and good luck trying to figure out how to even turn the damn thing on...especially when you have no light...the reason this bloody thing was ordered. If you need light, buy something else.

Sad to say this lamp has never really worked for us. We used it for the first time in summer last year on a couple of camping trips, and I assumed I had read the instructions wrong or something, but it didn’t seem to charge up. When you are on a camping trip, you aren’t really focusing on minor details and when you get home and sort the camping gear out you can forget to sort things like this. Came across the instructions yesterday and realised I had been trying to charge it correctly (I thought maybe I was supposed to have rechargeable batteries in it), but the built in ion battery just doesn’t charge. Sad, as I’m guessing I’m far too late for a refund (was my partner’s Christmas gift in 2018). Having to debate whether to bin it or just have it as another battery light.

Well built - seems to have great battery life, even though we've not managed to have it run out yet. Bright when needed but can also turn down. Love the option to run off rechargeable or AA.

Die Black Diamond Apollo Laterne wird in einem hübschen Karton geliefert, zusammen mit einem Micro USB Lade Kabel, und einer "Anleitungstapete".Von der Verarbeitung macht die Apollo Laterne soweit einen guten Eindruck. Die Verarbeitung ist nicht perfekt, aber wirklich gut. Die Fenix und Streamlight Laternen die ich besitze haben ein höheres Niveau bei der Verarbeitung. Wenn die Beine der Laterne eingeklappt sind, ist diese auch wirklich kompakt. Am Laternen Deckel hat die Laterne noch einen Doppelhaken, was es ermöglicht die Laterne an z.B. Ästen aufzuhängen.Die Bedienung der Laterne ist auch denkbar einfach. Zum einschalten muß der Taster nur kurz gedrückt werden. Wenn der Taster bei eingeschalteter Laterne gedrückt und gehalten wird, dann rampt die Helligkeit hoch und runter, bis der Taster losgelassen wird. Dieser Wert wird dann gespeichert, und auch nach dem nächsten Einschalten verwendet. Um die Lampe vor versehentlichem Einschalten zu schützen muß der Taster >3s in ausgeschalteten Zustand gedrückt werden. Auf gleiche Weite wird die Laterne wieder entsperrt. Zusätzlich hat die Laterne noch einen "Strobe" der mehr ein blinken oder vielleicht Beacon ist. Wenn der Taster im eingeschaltete zustand 3x kurz gedrückt wird, blinkt die Laterne. Dieser "Strobe" ist gut um auf sich aufmerksam zu machen. Ein Strobe ist es für mich nicht, da es schnelle kurze und gleichmäßige Lichtblitze sind.Die Lichtfarbe der Apollo Laterne ist wirklich gut ,klar auf der wärmeren Seite. Geschätzt zwischen 4000-5000K, mehr in die Richtung 4000K. Sie ist leicht warm vom Licht, und das Licht ist schön homogen und diffus! So wünscht man sich eine Laterne!Nun zum umschalten zwischen dem eingebauten Akku, und der AA Versorgung. Ich habe die Laterne mit 3 Eneloop AA Zellen problemlos betrieben. Die Energiequelle wird mit einem zweiten Taster umgeschaltet, der unter dem Batteriedeckel sich befindet. Wird der Taster betätigt, dann wird zwischen den Energiequellen getoggelt. Das funktioniert aber nur, wenn auch wirklich AA Zellen eingelegt sind. Aber nun auch zu der unglücklichen Funktion der Energie Umschaltung bei der Apollo Laterne. Wenn die Laterne sich im AA Modus befindet, die AA Zellen entfernt werden, dann ist kein umschalten möglich, auch wenn der eingebaute Akku geladen ist. Da verhält sich die Apollo genauso "unglücklich", wie die Volt Laterne aus gleichem Hause. Unverständlich dieses Verhalten!Das Laden der Laterne ist denkbar einfach. Die kleine Schutzklappe mit dem Micro USB Anschluß muß geöffnet werden, und die Laterne kann direkt mit einem USB Netzteil oder eine Powerbank und dem Micro USB Kabel geladen werden.. Die Verwendung der Laterne als Powerbank habe ich nicht getestet. Für mich ist die Akku Kapazität zu gering, um wirklich sinnvoll z.B. ein Mobiltelefon zu laden. Es würde aber funktionieren.Noch ein Wort zum fest verbauten Akku. Die Apollo Laterne ist überall verschraubt. Man kann die komplette Laterne sehr einfach zerlegen, und kommt an den Akku heran. Mit etwas Geschick und einem Lötkolben kann der Akku problemlos gewechselt werden. Es müssen dabei keine Verklebungen aufgebrochen werden.Fazit:Eigentlich ist die Laterne perfekt, wenn nicht dieses total hirnrissige Energiemanagement existieren würde. So schwierig ist es nicht wirklich eine etwas intelligentere Elektronik zu entwickeln! Eigentlich ist die Apollo eine klare 5 Sterne Laterne, aber diese Einschränkung bei der Umschaltung kostet klar einen Stern!

Muy buena lampara tanto para camping como para emergencias en el hogar. Practica, aguanta bien las caídas, no he calculado bien la duración de la lampara encendida, y no lo he hecho porque nunca me ha mostrado un problema eso. aguanta perfectamente excursiones de 2 días de camping.
