Worked perfectly as a remote trigger for my sony camera.

8 pin cable for sony camera is very poor quality.
This is the second one I have received and both cables have failed. I do not see anyway to contact the seller to get a replacement.

Take care plugging it into smaller cameras such as the RX100
This works very well with the RX100 Va, especially when using the high-speed video modes, allowing you to stand away from the camera and trigger the event you are trying to capture. All of the functions do work with the RX100 Va, including zoom, movie and grid lines.*BUT* you have to be careful plugging it into the RX100!Care is needed because this plugs into the Sony Multiport socket and THAT IS NOT A USB SOCKET!It _will_ accept a USB plug, for example to charge the battery, but the Multiport plug is significantly longer (almost double the length) than a USB micro plug - you can easily see this by comparing the lead that comes with the remote control against a USB charger lead. The extra length allows Multiport to have extra connectors at the tip of the plug, connectors that USB does not have. These extras are what connects the remote control buttons to the camera (it is NOT sending commands over USB).However, the Multiport socket on the small camera is only deep enough to allow all of the electrical connections to be made - it is NOT long enough for the plug to be pushed fully home, so that all of the silver metal shield on the plug disappears into the camera body: there is a gap between the body of the camera and the black body of the plug (this is NOT a fault with the plug on the remote control, this is the design of the socket on the small camera). This means that there is some play in the connection and that the lock springs on the plug may not fully engage with the socket. Therefore, if you let the cable droop out of the camera it may pull back minutely and disconnect the extra lines, meaning that zoom/movie/grid buttons don't work (as was reported by a one-star review on Amazon). To use this properly, you MUST ensure that you provide strain relief on the cable (which is something you should always do for _any_ camera remote release; yes, I know you've been lucky up to now but one day...) and ensure that the plug is going straight into the socket, pushed fully home. DO NOT FORCE IT just make sure it is in as far as it will go. The simplest way to provide strain relief is to use a camera strap: put the camera on a tripod or other support, loosen the buckle on the strap, pass the lead through the loop - preferably twice, fix the strap (e.g. wind it around a lug on the tripod), plug the lead in - give it a little extra through the strap so that is isn't pulling on the camera, test that all the controls on the remote are working (if not, adjust the plug gently), finally tighten the buckle on the strap. Now a tug on the lead should be caught by the strap instead of pulling the plug out of the camera.

Works perfectly.
Works perfectly for my Sony PJ410, cable could do with being a little longer but overall a good buy.

FDR AX 53
